GT5 will likely come out in 2009 but 2010 is more likely than 2008.

because Square has said
and I really just read it yesterday somewhere
that they don't want the PS3 to fail
(they actually also said in the same sentence that they also don't want the PS3 to do overwhelmingly well)

Well I think that FF13 will be great in Japan but PS3 userbase is still to small. Maybe SE want to wait for a bigger PS3's userbase ... ( well I know that it is a "spiral down" situation )

Wait a minute -- why would Square want to improve the PS3's situation? They've been publically complaining that Sony messed up and that they need to market it better, drop the price, etc. It's already very cheap in Japan -- it's just selling 8.5k/week despite the low price. If anything, the lack-luster performance of the PS3 will make FF13 a lower priority for Square-Enix, who could make more money targetting popular platforms in Japan. I don't understand your reasoning. You act as though Square and Sony are currently close friends who want to help each other out. They're two companies who have been able to help each other profit wildly in the past, but that doesn't look like the current situation. This is all about business. |

So we can just say that if the ps3 does not have 1 of these games out b4 xmas in japan it is more or less doomed 4eva, i think it would b better for square enix to release the final fantasy b4 xmas to ensure maximum sales for there game because if they dont i thick they will be in danger of never being able to sell the game in decent numbers

So what kind of sales are you all expecting this game to get if it releases before x-mas?

The PS3 is not very cheap in Japan. If Sony came out with a PS3 that played PS2 games for $250 in Japan, we can talk about it being very cheap. Being the most expensive system in Japan, that uses the most power, and has the most expensive games while not playing the games from the previous generation doesn't make a system very cheap.
Sony owns around 5% of Square so maybe that has something to do with it. Also, maybe Square remembers the days when Nintendo dominated console sales in Japan and doesn't want those days to return.
