Forums - Sony Discussion - Gaming on the PS4 is so ANNOYING!

Good to hear!

PS4 is the best GAMES-Console of all time for me, together with the PS2.

Welcome to modern day gaming I guess. This is not a PS4 issue, but a result of more and more games heading towards becoming live services with constant updates.

The best thing to do is add on a larger external hard drive (500 GB is simply not enough nowadays) and abuse rest mode to install updates in the background while you're not playing. If you just play SP games, then you can still play the game while the update is installing in the background.

Agree. It's not a PS4 issue, it's a 21st century gaming issue.

It doesn't bother me too much tho, I don't play many games, so I just need a bunch installed.

That is a true, unfortunate thing about modern day platforms. If you don’t have a Nintendo Switch, I recommend one based off of the quick pick up and a play nature, as well as the plenty of exclusive title that offers.

I guess one will not just move to Switch just because it's got to wait for install and updates. There are much more to consider when choosing a console.

Switch could be as fast as the Flash and it still doesn't cater to me at all with a few exceptions.

He also did mentioned about the Exclusives the Switch offers. Obviously the main equations = Games Sells Consoles.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Sony invest the most money in their games - more than Microsoft / Nintendo in the last five years. That's a fact.
One of the big reasons, why i love the PS4 so much too.

Is that why Zelda Breath of the Wild beat Horizon Zero Dawn in sales, score, and awards?  I mean, Horizon was clearly more expensive, but so was Star Wars Battefront 2 and Destiny 2.  So investing a lot of money does not mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

Sorry but Nintendo exclusives are every bit as good as Sony ones, sometimes better depending on taste.  Claiming otherwise, even if the games are not your cup of tea, is like living with your head in the sand.

Now MS on the other hand...well Forza is great, but thats about it.  However that is just my personal opinion.

I think in 3 solutions:
Get a bigger HDD
Nintendo switch
Streaming

Hey :) I understand what you want to say. But Zelda should not be compared to a new IP. there are more games and multi-games for PS4 than on the switch = more games-competition. But what have sales figures to do with development costs@my comment? i see your point, but.. The story/characters/dialogues were mediocre in the new Zelda, the game would not even be in my personal top 10 in recent years. It's a pity that official magazines do not rate stories / characters. Otherwise some games would get much stronger reviews and others less %. But I would not compare here all this things, i just write this comment - because you quoted me.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Destiny 2 had high costs due to marketing, thats true. But Sony has high Development Costs (Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, TLOU, Uncharted 4, Detroit Become Human, Spiderman, ect). Maybe "Days Gone" in april too - but for this game, i dont know it currently. But with "Ghost of Tsushima", Final Fantasy 7 Remake and "The Last of Us 2" come the next games with extreme development costs. That's really great to see how much effort and money in the games are being invested for us :) This is good for all in my opinion, because otherwise the video game market at some point consists only of mini-games, online-matches, games without legendary moments/good story and interesting characters. Sony has been investing more in their game development for years than Nintendo and Microsoft. That's a fact, if you look at the games of the last few years.

The large number of Nintendo games have no high development costs and can appear on the market faster than games (for example) from Sony / Rockstar Games / Naughty Dog. The overall package of the PS4 I find impressive, both the quality of games and the large selection of games. I'm grateful for the wonderful game support from the West and Japan. This perfect combi is another of the reasons - why the PS4 is maybe my favorite console of all time. That's why I'm so happy with the console, Shiken. edit: Greetings & wish you a great weekend :)

It's the same on Xbox. Not a fan of this either and I go back to "retro" more often because I can just load it up and play. When this generation started I already wondered where the small updates went. It's like the devs now always need to update the whole game when they just throw in a quick patch. Xbox 360 had updates below 100MB which didn't annoy at all but then all of a sudden games always needed GBs of updates while the game itself as just a bit bigger. Then you check the patch notes and it says "fixed rare crash in options menu when flipping around the switches" and it eats up 3GB for your 4GB game.

Investing money means commitment and it's very important, even when the money invested dont result in a better accomplishment.

In agreement with you, yes, Nintendo for example reuses the Mario brand all the time and their investment in their games is not as risky as Sony at all. Plus, Zelda gets 90 anyway, whatever they do. Yeah, call me hater and nutter, but I believe in Zelda review bias. Nintendo can't be wrong with Zelda.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

So we are just going to pretend Splatoon,  Daemon X Machina, Astral Chain, and reviving Bayonetta are not risks?

As for Zelda, this is false on so many levels.  I am going to say look at the review scores for Triforce Heros and Hyrule Warriors and leave it at that.  Nothing wrong with admitting that the majority of a certain IP just so happens to put out high quality entries.

The Mario brand is used cause the Mario brand is the most successful video games franchise of all time, and the games are almost always good to excellent. And also, it's time to accept that Zelda games are good too, consistent from good to excellent. You gotta get over it.
