They are vying for the most powerful political seat in the World, is this the best we Humans can come up with?.. they are so far from the best of us

We are a pathetic species to alleviate such people 

I wish I could just detach from politics because it's little more than shit-flinging and attack ad campaigns from one side and defensively trying to make the world a better place from the other...while the opposition claims it's the opposite way. IT's all dumb, it's all moronic, it's all devoid of logic, and it's sad...

...but it's necessary to engage in because it's what shapes the future of this and every other country in the world. Politics are important, they're worth the passion.

It just so happens to be that passion is also what makes like 95% of people absolutely stupid when it comes to politics. Feelings. Desires. Wishes. Not logic or facts or reason. Some people don't give a shit about stuff like helping the homeless or medicare because all they see is the government stealing their tax money to help people who don't want to help themselves. That's not how it works, but you won't ever convince a republican who feels they worked hard to provide for their family and earned everything that medicare for all isn't just telling them to give their money to the poor so they can have healthcare too. IT's ignorant and selfish. Every developed country has these things to make the best world for the largest number of people, THAT is the goal of politics, not 'how can I detach myself from my people, refuse to help those in need, then turn around and talk about how 'great' this naton is'.

There's a reason I don't like republicans in the US and conservatives in Canada. It's not about what's right when it comes to conservatives, it's about what's good for them. what benefits them. Democrats and liberals have always been about trying to find ways to make the world better for everyone, to offer social systems to aid those who need it...and despite this altruism, republicans just scream 'communist' in an effort to devalue the good attempting to be done.

For Democrats, it's about using facts, reason, logic, science, and compassion to enact policies that are best for the largest number of people. If this means the rich pay more taxes and shit like the environment are protected at the cost of corporations, then so be it.

For Republicans, it's all about how to keep the status quo, not change things for the better, and how to selfishly manipulate the masses so that the rich get richer, the minorities stay repressed, and tradition trumps progress as long as white voters don't have to pitch in their money.

It's gross. Politics are gross. Republicans remain villains in this story for their selfishness and demonization of minorities and positive change. And the fact that Trump remains in power despite CLEARLY being unqualified and ignorant shows it's not about what's right, it's about what helps republicans.

Those political debates are just as stupid as "debates" of pundits on Fox News. It's all false equivalency. As if if one party is exactly as valid as the other and trying to debate from the same standpoint, which couldn't be further from the truth. All this does is give legitimacy to bottom feeders and loud minorities. As if being a racist is just as bad as being old. As if giving money to corporations is just as valid as giving money to the homeless.

The US is being ruled by a minority doing everything in their power to seem like a majority.

Here's a little suggestion for the future debates:

They should make the debates, or at least one of them, some quickfire round. Have all national contestants (so including those from the green and the libertarian party, but without those who only run in just one or just a handful of states) show up on stage and just get asked to answer with "for", "against" or "no position (yet)". That way, everybody would get to see in an instant where the person stands on different issues or what kind of actions they would like to do when in office.

Best if the public would get a handout with all the questions where they can mark the answer of the different pundits, and making it available for download to do the same at home, too.

So let me get this straight...the President made up fantastic stories of mail-in ballots found in creeks to justify throwing them all out, told his (most likely) armed supporters to harass and intimidate "suspicious" people waiting in line to vote, and when prompted to tell the roving Proud Boy and militia gangs who assaulted Portlanders to remain calm and wait for all the votes to be counted, he instructed them to "stand back and stand by," which is now being sold on t-shirts by those very people...

Yet workplace training that helps those who may not realize their jokes on the job might be kinda racist or kinda sexist is what will actually lead to the downfall of democracy?

After the avalanche of garbage last night it took a while to separate the wheat from the chaff and let all the implications sink in. "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by." (they loved this) "Somebody's got to do something about Antifa and the left." "Go into the polls and watch very carefully." "Join the Trump Army." "Fight for President Trump." (the latter two are campaign ads) This is alarming even for Trump. It genuinely sounds like he's trying to incite a civil war.

No, it's not false equivalency. It's called democracy.

You're not just questioning the legitimacy of right wing policies, you are implying that matching the two sides in a debate against each other and allow them to compete on an equal footing is unfair. You're implying that it somehow should be moderated from the top and that Trump should be shamed from the very start.

And you're not the only one. This is the problem of many in the radical left, how they believe they have the universal truth. To question the legitimacy of the mere existence of the other side. You can always oppress and accuse the opposition in the name of the greater good. The arc of history bends towards justice, and whoever opposes that is a racist, sexist or homophobe. If they could, they would even stop us from openly debating many topics.

The left, or at least the extreme left, regards immigration as a human right. It's a human right for anybody to move into the US and other Western nations. 

We give and give and give but all the other side does is demand even more. It never ends. White Americans are already a minority in the biggest states of the US, but it still wasn't enough for the left. We're now on path for white people to make up less than half the population in a generation or so, but conservatives are still being accused of being racist. 22% of public school students today in California are non-hispanic whites. This happened in only two generations. And yet the extreme left demands more. And the pressure is stronger and crazier than ever, with demands for racial justice, demands for equity, accusations of the US being systemically racist and white supremacist, obligatory racial sensitivity training being imposed in schools and public institutions.

I think it's totally surreal.

What's in it for us? Nothing. We are committing a slow suicide. This is why the right needs to wake up and realize that we can't give in to unreasonable demands all the time.

In what way is Trump racist? It's a ridiculous accusation. He is actually too soft like most of the Republican party. Future generations will ask, how on earth could our forebears allow us to become this tiny minority? For what? Nobody even thanked us. The only thing we heard was endless accusations of being racist. At least Trump acknowledges there is a problem. Appeasement doesn't work. You cannot give an inch without offering a fight, in every area. This will be one of Trump's biggest legacy, and he will show the way for future conservative leaders.

You come from Germany, Vivster. And Germany is in a similar situation as Sweden. Swedes are one of the most tolerant people on earth but our number one political topic nowadays is immigration and crime. The number one is crime, the number two is about cutting immigration. Even naive Swedes are starting to realize how we are losing our nation in front of our own eyes, how we are going from a once homogenous and peaceful nation and becoming a multicultural and divided nation like the US.

I don't want to interrupt your proto-fascist rant here but isn't Sweden a country that's one of the most free, most educated and peaceful country ever? When you're gonna dog whistle, go dog whistle, but eventually get to the point of just not liking brown people instead of this wall of text that's meant to hide your true xenophobic feelings.

Best thing would be to do it over zoom and mute Trump when Biden is speaking.

Please don't put words in my mouth when we're discussing a sensitive topic. I never said I don't want people in my country purely based on race. Race in itself is not important, it's the factors that are tied to race. White people in the US as well as in Sweden have cultural elements and motivations and interestes in life that may or may not differ from foreigners and/or minorities. The factual reality of immigration means that white people are becoming a minority.

Racist is not the same as being race aware. And America is very aware of race right now.

About white people to Asia, no, I wouldn't want Japanese or any other Asian people to become a minority in its own country, if for some reason there was a huge migrant pressure by whites wanting to go to Asia. Why is this racism according to you?

The most important political topics for voters are measured and ranked regularily by pollsters in Sweden. In recent years, immigration and crime has both been in the top three most imprtant subjects most of the time. Sometimes health care is in the very top but when it comes to media coverage and public discourse, clearly crime and immigration or more covered than healthcare (until the covid crisis).
