The establishment politics (both Dems and Reps) have the same overall goal, keep the status quo from changing

People have to vote in their best interest by being aware and standing for something

No wonder have they the same goals, just look how close everybody is on the political spectrum:

Seriously, Bernie really stands out, and Hawkins is by american standards an absolute anomaly. Almost all US politicians are somewhere in the top right corner, the authoritarian right, so no wonder they all have similar views in how things should be.

The reason we have compulsory military training is because of our lovely neighbours, and I don't mean Sweden or Norway. We need some level of defensive force.

It's a good experience too where you'll likely learn new skills and discipline, bond with others, stuff like that. When I did my 9 months we had guys who lived in Spain and Australia. Their mothers were Finnish, they barely spoke the language but they volunteered to come and didn't regret it.

The fellow from Brisbane had it rough at first. In January it was -25C outside and we spent two nights outside. In the silent and dark forest you only heard jos teeth chattering lol. Think he did the old trick of eating tobacco so he'd get a fever and got to hospital.

Anyway, civil service is also a good option, not everyone can do military service. But in a country where education, healthcare etc are free and we have a good social security system, 6-12 months of you life for your country isn't too much to ask imo.

Many people against compulsory military service are those who don't feel like working or doing much of anything, but they're always asking everything for free anyway. Wankers.

Can you avoid military service in Finland on the basis of religion?

I know in South Korea it is not allowed to skip it on religions basis.

It is allowed in Brazil at least.

That's actually really well done, it clarifies/explains much of what some of us know, thanks for sharing

The Est Dems and Est Reps are so far right of World politics that they are in many ways the same political view, the political view that supports the powerful first

Only Jehova's Witnesses were allowed to avoid it on the basis of their religion until 2019, but not anymore. Since then, most of the choose civilian service.

Stuff like this.... is heart breaking.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcvkcK8AyXU

So a womens partner died (likely covid), and his mother (who previously owned the house?) died 2 years ago.
There was apparently a court case to get the money from the deceased mother (for her medical bills).
Meanwhile this women was the hospital with covid, unaware of the outcome of the court case.

They planned to force sell the house, to recover for the medical bills (of the deceased mother).
This woman, who just got out of the hospital recently, and is still sick and on a oxygen tank, did not know anything.
They showed up, kicked her out of the house, and all her items.  She was not allowed to take her oxygen tank with her.

Apparently she has enough money to pay the bills, and offered to do so, when she learned of the issue.
Nope, shes out of luck, out of a home, even though shes very sick still with covid.

Also the stress of getting kicked out of her home like this gave her a stroke.

What the bloodly hell.... how is this okay?

Trump stepping in with that EO and the usual talking head figures chimping out was great entertainment. As much as some states do need help, I am against giving funds to those states who have openly enabled violent bad behavior that caused millions of damages. And if it is true that they were trying to shoe horn universal mail-in ballots into the Coronavirus relief bill, they can go fuck themselves. If they are allowing people to demonstrate and at times, riot, then there's no reason for them to not be able to enable people to get into those polling booths in a safe manner.

Why do you consider "Defending the Constitution" to be "chimping out", and do you feel the same way when Republicans "chimp out" about the second amendment?

Because not only is this Executive Order very likely to be Unconstitutional, but you are also advocating for further Unconstitutional action by limiting freedom of speech and assembly by insisting that states limit the ability for people to demonstrate in order to allow Federal funds to be dispersed to ensure that the election occurs fairly and without costing additional American lives...

Please. There are unconstitutional practices that are also being done by the Democrats. Don't make it seems like it's only the Republicans. If optics is the game, I'd say the democrats just keep fucking up worse.
