I think most of know by now that Borderlands Game of the Year was just announced.

So since I have yet to play a Borderlands game, do I wait for this release to start or do I go ahead and start with the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel from the Handsome Collection?

Hmmmm...

All Borderlands games are great, but I think the first one is better than The Pre Sequel.

I personally didn't like The Pre-Sequel at all when I played it in the Handsome Collection, something about it just felt not as fun compared to the first. So I would wait for the first since it's a much better game imo, but it's up to you.

Play Borderlands 2, it's much better than 1.

From a lack of time perspective, I just might be skipping the Pre-Sequel from what I'm hearing.  But even though 2 is better than 1, would it not make sense to play 1 before 2?

Definitely Borderlands 2 and skip the others for now. Easily the best in the series and you won't miss out on much as story is certainly not the strong point of any Borderlands game.

So it implies from a couple of responses here that they are fairly independent of one another?  I will not get a "fuller expereince" with 2 if I were to play 1 first?

There is hardly any continuity between 1 and 2. Story is there mostly for shit and giggles anyway. Gameplay wise 2 is much more fleshed out than 1.

Story wise, you should start with Borderlands 1. The pre-sequel is between BL 1 and 2.

It just hit me.  That's what "pre-sequel" means.  This is proof that animated porn does more brain damage than live.
