Forums - Gaming - Have You already Made Your Decision on What Next-Gen System(s) You'll Buy?

I'm already in for PS5 depending on any huge screw ups on their part. For me to buy another Xbox next gen though, Microsoft has got some major selling to do for me. They gotta show me they have exclusives and content I want to play and that their studio buys actually amounts to quality titles that are actually good

I will most likely be sticking to Playstation.

Once upon a time I was almost a multi-console owner but now I find such a notion unnecessary. I only have so much time to game and when Playstation gets 95% of all the games I want, I can easily forgo getting the other devices. I am mostly a singleplayer RPG and/or action gamer, games with narrative. I rarely jump into deep multiplayer games. I like easy plug and play so I tend to keep away from PC gaming.

I would love to have another handheld again, but most Nintendo handhelds give me pause. I often love their selection of games (FF Tactics Advanced, Pokemon, Bravely Default,, Octopath Traveler, etc)....but their hardware. I found the dual screen and 3D functionality a wasteful gimmick on the DS/3DS line, and the Switch is a bit flimsy and so accessory driven. Vita was once my baby, with a wealth of narrative driven RPGs, rest it's soul. If Sony comes out with another handheld device(one that just plays digital PS4/5 games) I could be down....but I would need to know they will properly support it.

I just really forsee no reason to jump ship from Playstation now. I'm totally invested in Trophies(its like a meta-rpg game with leveling for playing other games). I enjoy pretty much all of their first party stable. And their hardware is usually on the forfront for console tech. They are also the ones least likely to push for the all digital, all stream future that I personally despise.

I will definitely buy xbox because of crackdown 4 and halo 7

I’m sure I will get all of them... but if I wasn’t... not really sure how I could answer the question since I know nothing about any of the new systems...

Like a fool I'll probably get both/all three. I haven't used my Xbox, like, at all...but if I can afford it I'll still get an Xbox when it becomes affordable.

As it stands, Ps4 and Switch are my favorite non-classic consoles (SNES still holds my heart), and I'm quite critical of Microsoft this and even last gen, but we'll see. I'll wait to see what actually comes out, because I fell for the lies this gen and Microsoft's exclusive lineup is practically nonexistent these last few years where Sony and Nintendo have been utterly killing it.

Look to my signature: I have all consoles and I'm proud of that fact, but Microsoft makes it VERY hard to want what they want. I don't care about performance/hardware specs (I'd honestly be okay with a 15 year PS4 cycle and don't need to upgrade from what the PS4 offers in terms of graphics/performance), so the PS4 Pro and Xbox OneX upgrades meant nothing to me. and while I got the PS4 and Xbox One within a year of each other, I got all multiplatform games on Ps4 because, at the time, that console was stronger.

Ah well, we'll see. I'm rambling. it's late, I've had a long day. I'm tired.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

I've upgraded to a 2080 back in November, and I don't really play consoles except for the Switch. I will most likely skip this gen unless there are a lot of must have exclusives for consoles like back in the 360/ps3 era again.

PS5. No question.

Even if it's the shittiest PlayStation ever made it will still be the only one that I'm really interested in.

Same goes for me. While I know Nintendo makes great games, they don't entertain me very much. And Xbox is missing to many japanese games that seems interesting. Sony does struggle sometimes, but in the end they always delivered nice games.

I'm probably done with buying game consoles for the forseeable future, considering I got a Switch in '17, Xbox One X in '18 (granted I was able to make back much of my investment by selling back my original XB One model but still). I anticipate milking the Switch and XB One X for at least a few more years, maybe even 5-6.

Next up will probably be an updated gaming PC (mine is from '13 and even for its time was only mid range), but even that will be a couple years down the line.

For the distant future, I'll probably just stay the course with Nintendo + Microsoft, but maybe that rumored Ninty and MS partnership will actually happen by then and I can just commit to one console + ride out a new gaming PC for the next several years.

I've had a GTX 1080 Ti in my computer since it released. With microsoft's plan, there's no reason for me to ever own an xbox. They've made bad impressions on me all 3 generations they've been around.

I don't want to get a PS5 either. No point in getting multiplats, because they all run better on my PC. I definitely wont be getting it at launch or around launch. Not going to spend 500 dollars on hardware just to wait 2 years for the good stuff, or else play the last generation games.

I just had a long gaming session with my PS2, playing some PS1 games. My thumbs are actually sore from all the QCF, and HCF motions I was doing. All that friction just hurts my hands. When I used controllers more, the skin on my thumbs were rougher, and it wouldn't bother me.

I think the eco systems are opening up. Well, they definitely are, with microsoft having Live on Switch. Really smart move. I'm sure sony will follow, with PS5 console exclusives on PC.

As for Nintendo.  I bought that thing on a whim just because i had a chance to get it for 200 dollars back in 2017.  As of last month, it's actually getting the most playtime of any console I own.  It's the first Nintendo I've ever owned, and I'm glad I waited.  It's literally the first Nintendo console that remotely interested me, or else I wouldn't have gotten a switch.  As someone who grew up swearing by sega and sony consoles, and not wanting to touch anything else, it's funny that in the end, Nintendo's hardware is the first thing I would consider next generation.
