The chance to execute people with Wiimote motion controls makes this in my top 3rd party games announced for the Wii so far (RE 4, RE:UC, No More Heroes being the others).

Rockstar, first company to bring a good violent game to the Wii...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Nice. Good to see the semi-port is looking good. Lets see how it ends up doing, as far as sales and reviews.

Semi-Port?

XBOX LIVE Gamertag: QuantumTarntno

Crackdown - Enchanted Arms - Oblivion - Samurai Warriors 2 - GRAW - GRAW2 -Lost Planet - Guitar Hero 2 - Star Trek Legacy - Double Agent - WWE 2007

Wii 4237-4425-6442-7626

Mario Party 8 - Rayman Raving Rabbids - Excite Truck - Zelda: Twilight Princess - Godfather - Wii Play

Yeah. It never started off with the Wii in mind. Some time in, it was decided it would also be on the Wii. While it is being released along the other 2 version, it will always be a semi-port to me. Brunswick Bowling is also a semi-port, but a horrible one. It has not come out yet, however.

I believe DonWii means that the first Manhunt was made for the PS2, and Manhunt 2 is also being made for PSP and PS2. It probably isn't far from the truth to suspect that they built it with the PS2 in mind, then took the game, upped the res to 480p, added motion controls, and also upped the gore factor a notch to match the extra power in the Wii. It's getting released at the same time though, so it's technically not a port.

I just wonder how well an ultra-violent game like this will appeal to the Wii crowd. IMO, I see PS2 sales beating out by a large majority. Maybe 250k for PS2 vs. 150k for the Wii in NA.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

While I am happy about the 3rd party support coming Nintendo's way... I think that the Wii- mote coupled with games like this, may for the 1st time in decades get Nintendo in some hot water with parents. This is a big change for Nintendo. I know, I know they have had violent games before but not games where you mimick every "sadistic" moves with your hands. And I say sadistic because you are rewarded for being sadistic not because I have to insert an opinion on this type of game. If some disturbed kid uses Rockstar and Wii as an inspiration for their crime Nintendo could be placed in a spot that they have traditionally been exempt (unlike the PC, the X-Box, and the PS2).

Right now I bet a lot of the casuals that buy Wii products are families with children. I wonder if those casuals were drawn to the N for its Family Fun and Family Friendly image? What will they think if they saw such violence could potentially be in their families hands? Remember this is more than graphic violence this is acting out murder in serial- killer fashion. If some one like Jack Thompson or H. Clinton, gets ahold of this he/ she may create a very negative image of the potential of the Wii-mote. Remember this is election time... it could be a good cause to win some votes.

I wonder how such a shift would effect their bottom line?

I don't know just food for thought.

Jack Thompson already criticized Wendys for distributing Wii "Toys" because it is a company that, apparently, encourages muder, citing the soon to be release Manhunt 2 on the Wii. He is, at the moment, suing Microsoft over the distribution of Halo 3. I think Jack Thompson has enough on his plate, especially with GTA IV being released soon after Halo 3.

Hilarious! That's funny.

Wendy supports murder. Hmmm... there was the Chili incident.

That was found to be a hoax by the by.

Well he has a lot on his plate, but I know that his office is full of staff so...

Then again Nintendo did not get in any trouble when BMXX came out on the Cube uncensored.

Errgh... gross!

"Consider for one moment that in Manhunt 2 you can, Wii remote and nunchuk in hands, use a pair of pliers to clamp onto an enemy's testicles and literally tear them from his body in a bloody display; and if that weren't enough, you'll take one of the poor victim's vertebrae along with his manhood. Or, if you'd prefer, you can use a saw blade and cut upward into a foe's groin and buttocks, motioning forward and backward with the Wii remote as you go. But believe it or not, there is much more to Manhunt 2 than mutilation and mayhem. This is a game that begins with the subject of psychosis."

There is NO way I would every buy this game, or allow it into my house. There are kids around, and my partner would probably faint... :(

Scary or gory/zombie is one thing (RE4 is all good!) - but this takes it too far. No thanks.
