And since this seems so hard to accept, lets then add BotW WiiU score (96) to the mix since BotW was released at the same time on WiiU and Switch.

Both Mario Odyssey and Zelda: BotW are at 97, so RDR2 is tied for best. That being said only a handful of games actually stand a chance to beat them, these being:
- GTA6
-TLoU2
- Mario Odyssey 2
- Zelda: BotW 2
- Death Stranding
- Cyberpunk

- maybe the new Gen Pokemon

- and the dark horse Metroid Prime 4

Seeing how you decided to go behind the mods back and change your thread title back to stating that RDR2 is the highest current gen game period, I will say this.

 

While RDR2 has a whooping 0.08 higher score on metacritic, the reader reviews say otherwise.  This makes BotW much better received overall in terms of quality than RDR2 when it comes to the general public.  I mean you said yourself they both got review bombed, so it seems fair to compare them in this case.  Also as I stated before, Zelda is a holder of the GotY title while RDR2 is not.  Also over at gamerankings, Zelda is also more acclaimed than RDR2 there as well.  On open critic, RDR2 is more acclaimed.

 

So the way I see it...

BotW has Metacritic USER advantage (by more than 5), won more awards, and has gamerankings advantage.

Both are acclaimed games regardless of how we try to twist the narrative. It all just boils down to what the consumers think of the games once they play the games.

Exactly!  For me RDR2, Zelda BotW, Mario Odyssey, Persona 5, and God of War are top of this gen together.  Really once you get over a 9, everything is subjective.

 

I mean a decimal that small could go either way if they had the same amount of reviews (122 vs 130), but he will ignore that because it has become obvious he only made this thread to get people worked up.

I dont think any pokemon title can reach those numbers, even more than 90 would be a great surprise. Anyway, I hope thay can achieve it so it would mean the game is great!

Also I think theres no point on arguing that much over the topic, we all have our opinion and facts have been exposed so people can check and take their conclusions... In my opinion BotW is one step forward to any other game this generation for what it meant when it came out but well I guess I prefer those kind of games!

And for the thread, its gonna be difficult because I think nowadays, only big games with big names can really compete, which is kind of sad. I feel like a new 3d mario different from odyssey could make it.. (odyssey was great but in my opinion there was something in mario galaxy, some magic that made more special)

He was refering to the X1 SKU of RDR2 (which only had 33 reviews), as the PS4 version is decimals lower than BotW on MC.  He left that part out in his OP and after that was revealed, a mod changed to title to specify the X1 SKU on MC only.  It appears he changed it back to the same baity title where it just says RDR2 is the highest current gen game period (which is false).

 

He purposely went over the mods to drag this out.  This entire discussion has been petty and pointless from the start, but I have a feeling he knew this was going to happen.  In any case, I have said my piece and corrected him while bringing up several points to counter his thread title.  I am done with it, because after doing the math and seeing his entire argument is hinged 0.08 difference, the debate is worth even less of my time than I originally had figured.

It's Gamerankings which has a lot less reviews than Metacritic but yes, if you prefer the way that site aggregates scores then BOTW is the GOTG so far.
