Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan Sales Week 51 Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - December 17-23, 2018

[Twilight edition] This week, the most expected one, fell flat comparing to last week and its a first that week 51 is less than 50. Numbers are kept flat from the last three weeks.. Could this be the new baseline for NS? Could be because 24th is not counted? Can it go up next week? The NS was down by 2k+ units compared to last week and up by 9k+ from last year's while the PS4 down by 5k+ and up by 8k+ respectively. Tha baseline of the two consoles mantain at 40016 for NS and 17688 for PS4.

Congrats on surpassing every switch game released so far but Splatoon 2. Indeed a game that deservers all the sales it can get.

The ps4 goal is to at least match ps3 numbers, the Switch is at least match the 3ds numbers.

I think both will suffer to overcome their respective predecessors.

PS4 matching PS3 is realistic. Switch matching 3DS numbers is possible, but an unrealistic goal. If Switch gets to 20 million lifetime in Japan that's an amazing achievement. But it would be really difficult to predict where Switch ends up being all new systems are coming out in 2020. And we don't know when or what the next Switch revision will be.

Possible by unrealistic.....isnt that a bit of an oxymoron?

I'd have to see what the baseline is for the Switch in Japan after its first price drop/revision before I consider 25m as unrealistic.

SMP should break both numbers as long as it doesn't receive competition from another Nintendo party game for at least 1½ years.

yes I also think that, it was doing great numbers in the US too it was 1,4M some weeks ago if I remember well (or 1M) so I guess after Christmas it should be something like 2M

It is hard to understand Japanese mindset with gaming. Superb games like "Judge Eyes" deserve better. I would never know PS4 numbers in Japan are low if were not for this site. The console is so huge here where I live. I feel here in the West SEGA will promote "Judge Eyes" really well so I think it will do great.
