Okay, then you have to answer, why is Switch Black Friday significantly stock smaller? Does Nintendo not want to sell units during the largest shopping day of the year in the USA?

Maybe they don't see it as the end all be all of their sales, especially with Pokemon being pretty fresh

And especially when they have Smash Bros launch in 2 weeks.

I agree with you. That's a very big reason I'm far more bearish on Nintendo this holiday. It's just that everybody is expecting sky high numbers for the Switch, and I simply can't figure out why. I keep seeing 'well it shipped 7 million last year so there's no issue with it shipping a few million more than that'. But I don't see sort of logic being applied. I don't see any rationale. It's just bizarre.

Last year, while the Switch has Mario Odyssey in October, it had nothing else noteworthy until Xenoblade 2 in December, and that game, while great, was not gonna sell consoles like Mario or Zelda or Pokemon.

Last year  was the first time during the holidays to buy a Switch for Zelda BOTW, MK8D, Splatoon 2, and SMO.  It had 4 dynamite games to sell last year for those wanting a Christmas gift. Switch had the perfect first year lineup, whereas the second year basically comes down to Pokemon and Smash.

People are seriously, seriously selling last year's lineup short and/or are vastly overestimating this year's lineup.

I think what can help this year is that BoTW, Odyssey, and MK8D are still selling well and there are bound to be more people wanting to play those games this year as well. So it’s not just Pokemon and Smash this year.

Im not selling last year short, I just think some are too pessimistic about the Switch’s chances to sell really well this upcoming holiday season. Whether it will ship 20 million or not by March 2019, I don’t know. But Nintendo will definitely get a pretty good amount of earnings when it’s all said and done.

Though I’m curious about the low stock. Wouldn’t that be more on the retailers? Because I don’t see how Nintendo could lack stock to ship them to.

So over on Era I've picked up this neat tool called Brickseek. It basically gives info on number of items available at Walmart stores for certain SKUs.

For instance, search by your zip code for here: https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=579371947 and see what stock is available. For me, at the closest 5 stores to me, there are 66, 36, 52, 94, and 43 units of the Spider-man bundle at the Wal-Marts near me.

Now do the same with https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=539262525 and see what stock is available. For me at the closest 5 stores there are 3, 7, 5, 2, and 10 units of the Mario Kart 8 bundle at the Wal-Marts near me.

So it looks like for whatever reason retailers are not anticipating a big Black Friday for Nintendo's bundles in comparison to Sony. I wonder why that is?

Or far more logical, Switch Black Friday stock is smaller than PS4 Black Friday stock. Benji or someone else reported that stock for Switch Black Friday bundles is OK but deffintly smaller than PS4.

I don't get what's more logical about your post.  The BF stock isn't magically lower.  Retailers and Nintendo ship according to anticipated demand. Also this difference is after PS4 has been on sale since Sunday.

Next PS4 NPD will be insane :D

First, If all those game were launch during Holiday season you would have point, from those game only Odyssey launched at end of October. Its not same when you have big/strong games already available and when big/strong games is launching, and Pokemon Lets Go and Smash Bros are system seller games in any case.  Also its not like that all those games from last year dont exist this year, those game will keep driving sales this year also but with huge boost from Pokemon and Smash Bros, but also this holiday season Switch has games like Fortnite, Mario Party, Diablo3...that will also help.

People talking about clear facts that from some reson you keep ignoring, last year in November and December Switch had only Xenoblade 2 whithout any bundle or deal, this year they have Pokemon Lets Go launch, Switch Pokemon bundles, Black Friday deal for $300 with one of most popular Switch game, Smash Bros launch and Switch Smash Bros bundles, if you realy think that will not change anuthing compared to last years sells, I dont know what to tell you. Also you completely ignoring point that Benji already said that Switch sales are very strong and much better than in same period of last year.

Actually its logical, BF deal stocks are limited, they are not unlimited, Nintendo cant ship more than they prepared MK8D bundles for Black Friday.

Anyways, awesome performance by all three. Sony especially.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Just made the new guy at work to buy a PS3 today, almost got it to be the PS4...
Why does nobody track that?

Did you beat him to submission and forced him to buy a PS3 but didn't finish the job for the PS4?

Overall October was a great month for the industry.

Was expecting Switch to get third since it does not have RDR2 or Black Ops 4, but pleasant surprise to be number 2 instead.

Sony knocked it out of the park by getting the marketing deals for RDR2 and Black Ops 4, those two games are probably play a key reason why the PS4 has a big leg.

Now lets gets the chart for games, really excited to know the legs on Spider-Man and Mario Party and how much did RDR2 hurt the sales of other October games.
