Last year, while the Switch has Mario Odyssey in October, it had nothing else noteworthy until Xenoblade 2 in December, and that game, while great, was not gonna sell consoles like Mario or Zelda or Pokemon.

Last year  was the first time during the holidays to buy a Switch for Zelda BOTW, MK8D, Splatoon 2, and SMO.  It had 4 dynamite games to sell last year for those wanting a Christmas gift. Switch had the perfect first year lineup, whereas the second year basically comes down to Pokemon and Smash.

People are seriously, seriously selling last year's lineup short and/or are vastly overestimating this year's lineup.

I think what can help this year is that BoTW, Odyssey, and MK8D are still selling well and there are bound to be more people wanting to play those games this year as well. So it’s not just Pokemon and Smash this year.

Im not selling last year short, I just think some are too pessimistic about the Switch’s chances to sell really well this upcoming holiday season. Whether it will ship 20 million or not by March 2019, I don’t know. But Nintendo will definitely get a pretty good amount of earnings when it’s all said and done.

Though I’m curious about the low stock. Wouldn’t that be more on the retailers? Because I don’t see how Nintendo could lack stock to ship them to.
