Why ?

Because the year isn't over yet.

They run their GOTY awards from October-October, games releasing now will be eligible for their next GOTY award. In November 2019 we could be hearing Smash is their GOTY.

It seems a silly time to do it, but it doesn't mean any games are missing out on a chance.

Most GOTY awards don't nominate games released in December until the following year.

Wonderful game.

They can do what they want, but I'm just not going to take them seriously if they're doing it weirdly like that.

Do you take TGA seriously? Because they run from Mid November to Mid November and games released from previous years can be voted for.

TGA? Of course not. That's quite possibly the least trustworthy gaming awards. The one that's most likely to be given out based on "gifts" received rather than actual merit

Who do you trust? Apart from me..

In terms of reviewers? I don't trust anyone other than myself when it comes to which games I'll like

But you said you don't trust them because they do it weirdly. Why didn't you say you don't trust them because you don't trust anyone but yourself?

Great choice! Best game since The Witcher 3.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

was a great game, but spiderman is just as impressive, as is dragon quest 11.

It's pretty common to leave out December games as it doesn't allow enough time for them to be reviewed fairly, and fully. But October is surely on the early side for their consideration of GOTY. Oh well, who cares. RDR2 and God of War are the only 2 games with a real chance to win anyways, and one of them won it so all is well in the world.

Absolutely earned!
Congratulations :)

I mean to be fair, God of War is not perfect in that regard either. The camera can be a pretty big issue in battles, it simply should not be that close to Kratos's shoulder ... you can almost see his individual hairs.

I also found the climbing incredibly out of place and oddly ... it's worse than in a Naughty Dog game despite coming 2 years after their last main Uncharted title.

But yeah, overall GOW is much better in that regard. RDR2 is the only Rockstar game that has really impressed me in any substantial way though, so I wouldn't say that doesn't at least deserve a mention (though that would technically be in next year's GOTY for this site I guess).

Referencing ND for low quality climbing is kind of odd to me. Both UC4 and UCTLL has excellent climbing mechanics, especially in the MP. Yeah, God of War’s climbing seems a bit out of place, but Kratos doesn’t do it often enough for it to be a big deal. The camera angle definitely took a bit of getting used to, but it didn’t give me many problems, personally, when fighting enemies.

Yes GOW's climbing was a problem. everyone knows Kratos doesn't do climbing to get to places, climbing is for killing enemies, just like jumping is a killing skill, oh shit another problem.
