I thought Pokemon Sun and Moon was the fastes selling Nintendo title on NPD, and then Mario Odyssey beat it?

Odyssey came out near the end of the NPD, so it didn't break the fastest selling record. However it is the fastest selling Super Mario Title

So what you're saying is that since Super Mario Odyssey came out like 3 days before the end of October, it didn't win. But because Smash releases so early in December, it has a chance?

Sun/Moon had the most pre-orders globally but I'm pretty sure Smash still has the debut NPD record for Nintendo.

If that's the case, then yeah, I honestly think Ultimate will beat it.

Around the Network

I remember Sun/Moon doing like 3.7 million for November 2016 NPD, so I think that's the record, not brawl.

edit: this will be a tall order for ultimate. I think it will be over 3 million, but still short of Sun/Moon.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Sadly that's how NPD works. However, Brawl had 874k units on launch day with 1.4 million first week, and Odyssey had 900k first 3 days, so I think Brawl inched ahead anyway

Combined yes, but NPD doesn't combine them sadly. So brawl would technically have the record. NPD is weird lol

but I think for the sake of this comparison they should be combined.

They are largely the same games.

I was trying to be consistent with the NPD, but I see what you mean

I voted no. Also, according to VGC, Pokemon X+Y sold 4.2m in one month. I don't think Smash can beat that.

This was meant to be only for the NPD first month, not worldwide first week

Pokemon has done over 4m in NPD this gen. So no I see Smash selling 2m first month.

I see more like 2m

I don’t see it happening.

I get the feeling a lot of people are talking about hype, but I don’t see many actually excited to play it. It’s not like Zelda and Mario last year. I’d like to see it sell really well because I like seeing Nintendo be successful, but a B-tier Nintendo game like Smash being pushed as an A-lister title feels like one big lie.

Maybe if they had an even more robust Subspace Emissary Mode - or something compelling and fresh - but aside from more content, the game looks like more of the same: and that is why I think there’s not a huge amount of excitement to actually play it.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

When did Brawl release? Month I mean. That being said I predict Ultimate will sell more because of one reason above all others; Ultimate is the superior name.
