Remember last year when I said the Switch would take sales away from the XB1 but not effect the PS4, while the PS4 exclusives would help maintain momentum, leading to a huge slump in XB1 sales?

This year was almost impossible to predict based on last year.  At 20 million I would have thought Switch would easily pass its target.  Then I would expect a late life decline for the other two on top.  I expected Switch to take 10 out of 12 months.

Instead Playstation has crazily took most of the year.  In late life and with no price cuts.  The pro and good exclusives have kept its sales super strong.  It seems obvious that many gamers who would have bought a Switch or gone full multi platform have gone with the upgrade instead.

More so with the X.  The Pro is probably around 30% of sales, though there have been year long stock problems, so this might have been much higher.  The X though looks like it is not a million miles off half of the Xbox sales.  Without the X and its invigoration of the Xbox brand, the Switch probably would have met its target and Xbox would be all but dead till next gen.

the problem with so many users upgrading to the X imo is the next gen xbox in 2 years will be a much harder sell. the ps5 won't have that problem as the jump from ps4 Pro to ps5 will be much bigger. making the purchase more appealing. and unlike last gen the ps5 will be launching with huge momentum from the ps4 but the next gen xbox will be launching off the disastrous gen they are having as opposed to the 360. I can only see the gap increasing.

It seems like my thoughts might confirm themselves. Smash is owning November so far.

So after week 1 it's looking like a lock to take the month if the status quo remains ?

Nahh ps4 and switch will be the most competitive ever this month. Hell i think itll be more competitive with all 3 as xbox will be much better this year too.

Diablo is holding up very well for a 3rd party Switch game.

Insiders @ ERA did say it had sold really well. Let's see what it translates to. It's doing well on the e-shop also!
