Now then! How are you? I'm desperate for this God Damn beta because at the moment NMS isn't inspiring me to create content for my channel. Too many problems.

Hello! I'm a little happy because I'm going to look at a new place to move to. Just from the perspective of gaming, it sucks to not be settled in a comfortable living situation. I've been playing Uncharted 4 sporadically for about 6-7 weeks and still haven't finished it. Ridiculous. My youtube channel was banned for life sadly, so I haven't been on youtube as much lately. I'll definitely sub again and come hang out once I get a new channel, or sweet talk the robots at youtube into getting my old one back. You good?

Yeah, things are good here, man. I'm on the final boss of DQ11 but I've taken a break because all my characters are at level 99 and I'm getting slaughtered ... LOL. My battering my way through fell at the last hurdle! Moving is always an upheaval but usually ends well once you're settled into that fresh, blank space. New location, new neighbours, new friends, new hope and new Dreams. Sorry to hear about your channel getting banned, it seems to be something I see more and more often these days. What did you do? Back the wrong side?

I accidentally uploaded pornography. Seeing how youtube reacted was kinda intersting. At first it was a temporary ban, which immediately escalated to lifetime, with no ability to even create a new account. Then a month or so later, I was magically signed in ( although still without an official youtube channel ) and linked to my google account, with all my youtube purchases intact. I can now "like" videos as well, but if I comment, it will officially create a new channel. My google account uses my real name, and my new channel would as well, so I don't want to do that.

So we don't get in trouble for going so far off topic: Really hoping this game does well, and lives up to the potential it has with the gaming community on as large a scale as possible. One of the most exciting releases on the the entire gen. The audio manipulation alone looks like a blast.

Oh, that's an odd situation. I won't ask how you managed to upload porn by mistake because I also don't want to derail the thread.

Dreams is going to be a success. I have no doubt about that. How big a success it will be is up in the air. I do not think it's going to do GOW or Spiderman numbers at launch. It's not out of the question but certainly unlikely. I see it selling reasonably well to begin with and then sustaining good sales as more content rolls in. I'd liken it to Youtube in that regard so the more diverse the content gets and the more quality is released, the more people will begin seeing it for what it is: a service. I actually think this is how Sony will see it too, hence the 10 year plan (more or less confirming PS5 BC).

I still think people are sleeping on the potential and not quite grasping what it is. I recently watched two videos and both judged it by the short demos MM had knocked up in their spare time. In other words, they (and others) are making the mistake of thinking 'it's a game'. It's NOT a game, it's a development tool and service for creative people. This has always been the problem when promoting this game. LBP was much easier to promote because it was a platformer first and a creation tool second. Dreams is ONLY a creation tool that can make anything you want INCLUDING platformers. It doesn't really have a central character because that is up to the developer (You).

I was going to touch on some of the comparisons you made to LBP, specifically how LBP had both a base game for people to play through, as well as a "face", that being Sackboy. You know more about this game than I do, that's for sure. Do you think there will be no pre-made levels from MM at all? I would hope there would be an assortment of different game types available off the hop, to help give players an idea of the type of content they can make, and simply to offer something to play around with while the community is getting it's creations up and running. Maybe a dozen or so. I can understand why it wouldn't be there and all, but it would be nice IMO.

What do you mean by pre-made? There's a full story campaign about Art, a down and out jazz musician. His story is a point and click adventure but he has two inner stories running alongside that we flick between. One is about D-Bug, a sci-fi platformer and the other is a childhood adventure starring Foxy and Francis. You see these characters in the pic I posted in the OP. There are also other games included, one of which is a racing game. All assets from these are collectables, either in bubbles (like LBP) or unlocked as you level up.

Here's a bad vid of D-Bugs levels:

When you wrote in your previous post: " In other words, they (and others) are making the mistake of thinking 'it's a game'. It's NOT a game, it's a development tool and service for creative people. This has always been the problem when promoting this game.", I was thinking you meant there was no-ready-to-play game to speak of as part of the package, and it was only a tool for creation. I have watched maybe 3-4 videos on this, and I didn't know about the story campaign.

Oh right. LBP was a platformer that you could also create with. Dreams is a complete development package that comes with a campaign to show you what can be made. It's a subtle distinction but it's what's throwing lots of people off. Unlike LBP, you can't associate the graphics we've seen with Dreams but rather we can only associate the graphics we've seen with the creator. Look at it as a plain piece of paper and a pencil. You wouldn't call that the 'art' you'd call the person who used the paper and pencil, the artist.

Yes. I was able to glean at least that much from what I've seen. LBP graphics were comparatively homogeneous, regardless of the type of experiences that were created by the community.
