Zelda Series = 5 games = OOT 98(64), BOTW 97(Switch). BOTW(WiiU), Twilight Princess(GC), and WindWaker(GC)

Mario series = 3 games = Galaxy, Galaxy 2 and Odessey = 97

Sony exclusive = 2 games

Yes but vast majority of the games on there are on Playstation consoles and not on Nintendo consoles. basically if one doesn't care about Mario and Zelda Nintendo consoles immediately become obsolete.

And here we go...

I wonder if they should include a special badge for games that surpass 95 and games that are lower than 60.. might aswell since they are going this far.

Metacritic has recently added a badge that basically says that it is a must-play game. This however is only given to games that rate higher than 90 (with minimum 15 professional reviews behind it).

The list is seen here: https://www.metacritic.com/feature/metacritic-must-play-games

It turns out that only 4% of the database games total qualify for this badge.

What do you guys think? Do you think this is a good development for consumers to be aware of the greatest games? Or is it something that will negatively impact developers as they again scramble to get a high metacritic rating, as we know is very important to some of these companies?

It's worth noting that all those games, except Bayonetta 2, are available on PS4 (Hollow Knight's PS4 version release date is 25.9.2018). Inside's PS4 version should also be on the list since its score is 91 based on 18 reviews.

I wonder why almost all of those games are rated higher on XBOX ONE and SWITCH compared to PS4 (Divinity: Original Sin 2 on XBOX is rated 95, but it has only 8 reviews)? Could it be related to higher standars?

Forgot to add:

This idea sucks bigly. It's misleading and will cause even more fighting.

IMO game scores come in 5 categories. And this only applies if you use Opencritic, and set it to only use reviewers you trust.

0-74 Don't bother. Games at this level are not worth your time or money.
75-79 A game that is worth taking a risk on, or picking up in the bargain bin, if you are a huge fan of the genre, or series.
80-84 Pick this up if you like the genre.
85-94 A must play, unless you don't like the genre.
95+ Play this. You hate the genre? Try it anyway. It may change your mind.

They should of done this to 80+ and higher meta games instead .

It is probably some big conspiracy. Or! It is reviewed by different people. Logical isn't it?

Dude. Ninety..nine. As a Zelda fan I take great pride in that.

And now it’s even got a cool Must Play stamp!

I don't think it's a conspiracy. But there could be some media bias going on. You never know.

There's no such thing as a must-play. If a Fifa or NBA game got 100% Metascore, I wouldn't buy that game because I'm just not interested. If a JRPG got 70% I'd be concerned but it might still be a game more to my taste than a survival horror that gets 90%. Example: The Last Of Us is a great game but I've started it twice and can't get through it for the frustration ... if any game was going to be a “must-play” it's that but no way I “have to” play that game.

Play the games you want, not the ones someone tells you that you must play.
