Forums - Gaming - The Milkman Conspiracy - Psychonauts

In my never-ending quest to get people buying Tim Schafer games, I pose a question:

Is the Milkman Conspiracy the greatest platforming level ever created in a game? If not, what is? And though the gameplay is a bit awkward at moments and the puzzles unintuitive, have you ever played a level that had more imaginitive and clever portions to it as The Milkman Conspiracy?

Next up, I'm going to convince every last one of you to buy Brutal Legend when it releases. And to go play Grim Fandango and almost every other LucasArts game from 1990-2000.

Tim... Scafer... Taking... Over my... Brain... Must... Listen...

Seriously though, why don't people buy his games? It's frustrating that games like Ratchet and Clank do well (though they are quite good) while another platformer that offers truly genius design and environments gets a foot up its ass for actually trying to break some boundaries. And then to see a game like SMG take some of Psychonauts mind-bending gravity sections and then get sunshine blown up its ass for being so new and different.

Bold prediction: Brutal Legend will be one of the best games of the year and will struggle to top 300k worldwide.

Its not bold , its actually pretty damn possible :(

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

I definitely plan to get Brutal Legend when it comes out. Psychonauts was extremely awesome, easily the best story in a platform I've ever seen, and I have high hopes for Brutal Legend as well.

...

Psychonauts was certainly the best platformer I've played on PS2.

What's Brutal Legend about? First I've heard of it.

It takes place in an alternate universe based around heavy metal. Everything is based around the worship of rock music and it appears as if it's loosely based and is parodying the Heavy Metal animated movies from the late 70s.

Jack Black also voices the main character which will be interesting.

Well, while the LEVEL was awesome, the actual platforming in Psychonauts is a bit clumsy. I can't give it props over the ghost mansions in Super Mario World, but originality and awesomeness, Psychonauts is a great game.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I agree. The game is rather clumsy at points. What probably let me down the most were the puzzles, or more aptly put, the "hidden stuff you'll never find, hahah you suck the game is mocking you" segments of Psychonauts.

There is little to no help during parts of the game where one specific task is required and the game completely leaves it up to you to figure it out for yourself.
