Forums - Gaming - Gaming burnout.

It's kinda what's happening to me now. GTA Online is the game I've been playing the most throughout these months and I get really tired of doing the same heists and missions to gain money. And to make matter worse, the latest update content just makes the game a chore to play now. I had to resort to other games in my backlog to not go to a burnout. For me, that feeling comes and goes from time to time, which could be most likely remedied by playing something new.

Everyone has those periods. I remember when I didn't play Rocket league for over 2 weeks. Horrible times.

Must've make your game broken hearted knowing it took you that long to come back :P.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I go through burn out regularly. I think it's just natural, if one spends a significant part of their life doing any activity, they'll have to pull back from time to time. I don't ever really do anything in particular to work through the cycles. I just let them happen on their own. Generally speaking, when a new game comes out that grabs me, I'll be back into gaming hardcore for a while. Then if I run into two or three in a row don't really get me, I'll enter one of those burnout periods.

Same for me. It happened to me twice, but I just don't think about it. Sooner or later something comes out and I go back. When I don't fancy playing I just do something else. I never force myself to play or force myself to be core gamer or something.

God bless You.

I've been gaming since Genesis. This happened to me around the original Xbox era. But lasted only a half a year or so. I'm now 34. Feel like I'm 24 but gaming has most certainly lost it's luster for me. One of my biggest gripes is the idea of graphics and frame rates being such a topic of discussion now more than ever. I'm not against enhancing visuals but to me those things don't matter. I don't know? I feel young at heart which makes it all the more confusing.

I guess when we have a hobby, after some years, we realise that our commitment and passion for it is not the same as when we started. I think it's natural. When you just have a hobby and relax doing it, that's it. We don't need to feel an intense passion all the time. Sometimes a hobby is just a hobby. You just go, do it and have fun. Besides once we're into a hobby for many years, we start requiring more from our hobby, so we become more critical and selective.
