Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg: "Our Userbase Is Made Up Of More Hardcore Gamers"

Wtf did I read?

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Percentage-wise, most likely yes. Quantity-wise, most likely no.

Given that us "hardcore" gamers are more likely to buy systems at launch, the switch may actually have the highest percentage. A lot of the more mature 3rd party games seem to be selling well enough to reflect that.

Lol. That was funny. No doubt it is true when comes attach ratio but the spin....

Yeah.... basically this.

"our small installbase are all hardcore xbox fans.... its because of our great relationship with them"

Thats a nice way of saying you couldnt attract that many casuals to your system.
And it probably has nothing at all to do with your relationship to the hardcore community on xbox.
Alot of those guys are die-hards, that ll buy any xbox because they want halo + forza + gears.

^ my take on it.

I semi agree and disagree with what he states.
I agree to a point for consoles the Xbox focuses more on competitive multiplayer and Esport games, i disagree because PC has the biggest hardcore and casual market.
Sorry Mr Greenburg.

Xbox is hugely popular with hardcore gamers it seems.

lol such meaningless PR talk.

It's really strange to try and spin this as a good thing.

"Our console only appeals to Hardcore Gamers, we failed to capture the wider market."

A smaller user base is almost always going to be made of more hardcore gamers. He's probably right about that but it's not really something to brag about this late in the generation. It just means you failed at attracting casual gamers.

As far as "the best gaming experience," though, I'm pretty sure their initial failure on that front is part of the reason they lost market share. Most of this is just spin.

You nailed it.

Define 'Hardcore'.

Considering the attach ratio is quite similar and that they made the kinect that is hard to consider true. Would like him to provide sources.

didnt you read? He is basing it on his own friend's list lol.
