Relative to what I said and the post I quoted, which was about how Sony should have already bought Insomniac, I don't see your point. Unless you have some information that says Insomniac is up for sale? |
I was just pointing out that Sony could buy them at some point. *shrugs

The game was kind of overhyped here on VGC to be fair. Not only have I seen people saying that it would outsell Batman: Arkham City to become the bestselling superhero game of all time (Batman Arkham City sold around 15m including digital) and people calling it GOTY already, but look at how many people were expecting 90 or above here on the prediction thread: zombie9ers 93
That's not to say that 87 isn't a good score, it is still quite good, but it's also nothing amazing. As a Spider-Man fan I'll most certainly still be playing it, hopefully it can live up to Spider-Man 2 (2004) in my eyes. |
So expecting a 90 is an overhype when the game hit 87? Curious metric there.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."
What a shame, 3 points short of buying it.
Actually it all depends whether Nurburgring 24h is next week's race C in GT Sport. If not (good chance) so long GTS, hello Spidey.

90, no, but look how many were at least a few points higher than 90. 10 people predicted 93 or higher. One guy even predicted 97. The last game to get a 97 meta was Breath of the Wild, before that it was GTA V. To be expecting a score that high out of Insomniac, a studio that hasn't gotten a 90 meta in 15 years, is overhype for sure. Not to mention the people saying it would outsell Arkham City and the people calling it GOTY already. |
So the average being under 90, 10 people expecting 6 points higher than current meta and 1 being very high shows the game is overhyped at VGC? This must be a new way of measuring averages that I never heard about.
Average is under 90, less than 3 points away from meta (or less than 2 over the other aggregated score) so how can that be an overhype?

How was this game overhyped. If the average was 89.4, which is only 2.4 points above 87, that's not disappointing.
Okay yeah, that one guy predicted 97, sure. But there's always that one guy. I saw someone predicting ARMS to be a 95 meta.
And game has a huge shot of beating Arkham City. I think people are grossly underestimating how big of an IP Spider-man is around the world.
And clickbait reviewers deserve a mention too. Every game scores 1-2 points lower than they used to pre-360/PS3, just to get some clicks.
Bet with Intrinsic:
The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
Looks like a really fun game but i will have to pass up on it for now, (same for Dragon Quest XI, Valkirya Chronicles 4, Red Dead Redemption and Zone of The Enderes the 2nd Runner), since all my gaming budget has been spent on... something important.
Oh well whenever i buy those games be it at the end of the year or early next year they will have dropped in price, (at least some of them) so i will have saved some money.

You really think an exclusive like Spiderman can outsell Arkham City? Between what VGC lists for Arkham City and what it sold on Steam, Arkham City is over 13m, and that is before console digital. Sure console digital was only like 10% back in 2011-2012, but 10% digital is still more than 1m extra. So all in all it's sitting close to 15m. The last Sony exclusive that managed 15m on a single platform was Gran Turismo 3. Maybe it will top Arkham City between PS4 and PS5, if it gets a PS5 port, but I just can't see it happening PS4 alone unless Sony bundles the hell out of it. |
Also Arkham City was a masterpiece and its legs were boosted when The Dark Knight Rises went gold. Spiderman could be boosted by a Spidey film but that is surely years away so the boost will be small.
Spiderman looks to be a fun game but Arkham City was amazing on various levels. I don't see Spiderman having City's atmosphere, design, gameplay variety, puzzles and the side quests, which were major strengths of Arkham City seem to be missing in Spiderman, especially the last point which is where the game recieved criticism.
I don't think Spiderman will live up to Infamous 2 either. That game was a masterpiece in its own way with how fun the traversal was, everything in the city was interconnected with Cole's powers to give a potential endless platforming run through the city. Spidey just swings around without care to the environment. Like I saw him swinging in Central Park where there was nothing to pivot his webs on! Its just senseless swinging. The various powers and combat in Infamous 2 was amazing, and Spidey's combat will easily be the worst thing in the game like it was in the Arkham games. Infamous 2 also had amazing replayability with significant differences between the good and evil playthroughs.
LOL, don't really know what went through my head when i said that number, knew it was wrong almost immediately
