Have people not been paying attention to this game's progression?

The game has gone gold extremely early for a AAA title
The preview build has been reviewed by at least 30+ gaming sites, the majority glowing previews
Benji from resetera is saying ,Gamestop wise, its preselling higher than God of War
The game will most likely have an early metacritic embargo like God of War did

All signs point to a genre defining, mega seller here.

I don’t think it’s going to do well enough in Europe for it to do so. I think sales will be good, but disappointing compared to expectations some here have.

I expect this game to sell 10M+ lifetime if it's as good as it looks on trailers.

Spiderman will sell well because of Sony's goodwill among gamers and Marvel's goodwill among the masses. It still wouldn't be as good a game as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Knight, Infamous 2 and Second Son.

It's a good point. We all know about the hero, bu we still didn't see the game. It could bring a bad story, it could be repetitive.. we don't know... Even with all the hype, the sales could drop after 2-3 weeks if the game isn't as good as many think it will be.

Obviously, as a game for the most sold console in this generation, it's got everything to do really well though

It could happen. I think having an exclusive beating a popular third party game on multiple platforms would be really impressive.

Yep, I'm in favor of in the absence of other info use what is now. So benefit of doubt when track history is good, and skepticism when it is bad.
