That's the first time I've ever hit the agree button.

The Division. I played the beta and wasn't sold on the game. Recently it was on sale for super cheap so I got it and I've already put 80+ hours into it.
Mass Effect 2- I tried the demo and didn't see what all the fuse was about. Didn't plan on buying it. A few years later and this gen started even, it was on sale for 5 bucks for the 3 ME games, bought it and enjoyed it.
Titanfall 2 - again played the beta before release and it was... Meh. Not that fun. So I decided against it. But I got it on an sale (long story but I basically got it got free) and I am enjoying it quite a lot. I already have close to 40~ hours.
Metroid Prime - I had heard about how awesome and good the Metroid games were, so I picked this up despite not liking the demo playing at Wal-Mart. I beat it once, and was kind of dissapointed in how short it was. Then I played it again, and again, and again. And suddenly I realized that even though the game was a little short, every level was perfectly designed. And then I went back and did a perfect runthrough, collecting everything and realized just how long the game truly could be.
Resident Evil 4 - I thought Resident Evil was old hat. Then I played the Demo for 4. It blew me away, and I think I've done that village siege at least 300 times in my life.
Final Fantasy Tactics: After a few rage quits, I was hooked. I didn't even quit during that castle at the end of Chapter 3 where you can get stuck in an unwinnable situation if you don't prepare. Fucking Wiegraf.

I had a very similar experience. I heard all these great things about FF7 at the time of launch, i was never into JRPGs and FF series did nothing for me. When i got my PS1 i needed games and MGS and Crash was all i had. FF7 didnt look appealing to me until i got past the 1st chapter of escaping Midgar.. my god that game evolved into what me and my friend thought was thrash into what i consider up there in my top 10 games of all time.
It was proof to me that you can never judge a book by its cover and playing through something can completely change your outcome.
Tales of Berseria won me over.
I never buy into anything anime related because I always associate people who do that stuff as very sad incels, and those who are outcasts to society. But this game is $12 on Humble monthly bundle right now, and I was just going to take Sniper Elite 4 and run (Me and my friend beat it in 10 hours in one sitting, so I ran out of that real quick), but I gave Tales of Berseria a try and it is just a masterpiece. The combat is pretty fun, and I am still getting used to fighting with my arrow keys and making combo moves on multiple enemies. Massive change from shooting a gun with left click, or swinging a sword in Skyrim.
I think I will keep myself exclusive to this game and any future titles. Not going to bother buying into the series older titles unless necesarry for the story. This game was a spinoff I heard, so it was super easy to get into the story and learn the world.
First Person Shooters on Consoles? Don't me stupid. Their crap.
My friend says "Play CoD: MW2"....
"Fine" I say.
3rd my games are FP in some way now. :P Help's that MW2 was fun.
Hmm, pie.
Skyrim tbh. At the time of its release I had no experience of elder scrolls games and remember thinking of wrpgs as a stain apon my preferred genre. The game was buggy as hell but that was a lot of the charm. Skyrim opened me up to another side of rpgs, although still one that I approach with some caution.
The original GOW. I played halfway through the game and couldn't get into it. A couple of years later I bought it as part of the trilogy collection on ps3 and loved it.
The other big one was Fallout 3. When I started the game i couldn't get into it. Blew up the first town/save point and got killed by fire ants many many times. And seriously considered quiting. But fortunately I didn't and it was only after I had sunk 70-80 hours into it that I appreciated how brilliant it was.

God of War 3 is an example. I had way more fun with that than I thought I would. Ascension put me off again though, the bew game seems interesting, may still get that at some point.
