True. But besides being on the same console, the game would also have to be from the same franchise.

Well that is how I intended the OP.

To show how a dev evolved during the gen. So most of the examples were really like that, FF, SMB, UC, etc.

But since we got a lot of good example, I had fun with the ones putting WiiU and Switch, 3DS and Switch or me pushing further GBC with GC.

I was so wrapped up with the name of the game I forgot to actually comment.

I loved DQ VIII so much, but I haven't played any other games in the series. Seeing that first PS2 screenshot is actually jarring how different the quality of graphics are. Those games look like they are from 2 different generations.

So many great examples given it make me happy to see how much gaming can evolve inside a gen and it can also help blur the gap from end gen to early gen on the transition.
