Forums - Sales Discussion - The Last of Us has sold over 17 million copies as of April 2018

But Phil Spencer and EA told me that single player games are dead.

The Last of Us Part 2’s creators said Ellie is the only playable character, huge disappointment.

Well, that's fucking terrible then, Joel is likely already dead. Far from the first dude/dudette I curse to death with my love :( I guess a flashback DLC for Joel will do.

I don't think they kill will him off like that, he will be a big part of the story before they kill him off, which sucks.

They've already said that this game story is about revenge. That meant one of them would want revenge for the other and pretty sure that would be Ellie.

Joel doesn't need to be necessarily dead, he may have been captured as bait to attract Ellie, as you know, Ellie is the most important human alive.

If that's the case we might get to play as him for a brief period of time during the end game, if I recall it right they also said you would only play with Joel on the original but you know how that turned out.

All depends if this will be a 2 games series or a trilogy, if it's a trilogy the scenario Joel gets back at the ending seems plausible, so we have them both on the last game, but if this is planned to be the last game, well, he's likely going to die... and this is what I wanted to happen.

Joel was a great character, and if his death can boost the game narrative that would only make him even better.

I've always wanted Ellie to become brutal and living out there as a survivalist, away from the little that remained from society, being constantly chased down because of how important she is, and becoming at least a bit insane out of that. We know how cruel is that world, that seems like a good possibility and honestly a game with such a heavy atmosphere would be awesome, tragedies are often missplayed, but they can be amazingly powerful.

I'm thinking that that would not make up for a 10+ million unit discrepancy but yes that probably part of it.

VGC:

PS4: 6.27 M

PS3: 6.27 M

PS3+PS4 = 12.5 M

17 - 12.5 = 4.5 M Discrepancy

I assumed the 6.27*2 was a mistake.

I mean the TLOU sold 7+ million on PS3 alone as of 2014.  So how could any of this be tenable?

20 Million are possible maybe, someday ?!

Game Awards 2020: Millions of Gamers have decided, "The Last of Us 2" is Game of the Year and has received the most Awards :) And my respect for Ghost of Tsushima!!

I think I'm the only one who was very unimpressed by this game. The graphics and story were solid, but the gameplay got stale two hours in. Shoot runners, evade people, shoot people, evade Clickers. It never really evolves or adds anything new, so I got bored very quickly even though I did manage to beat it.

Can you at least point out which game you've played that has no repetition of any kind so we know what you consider a good game and why you dislike this one!

ND is way past that, sorry.

Yea but it doesn't have to be that way. Why can't they make a Jak 4 with a compelling story? Not everything has to be dark and edgy.

So for you, the Uncharted universe, also by Naughty Dog, is dark and edgy???  I don't think you've played Uncharted.

I'm pretty sure thats not what I said.

TLOU 2 going to be insane. Sure to boost HW and optimistic about a high rating same time.

I'm pretty sure you said "not *everything* has to be dark and edgy" in the context that everything Naughty Dog currently do is dark and edgy except for Jak and Daxter, back in the day.
