850k physical in 6-7 months for a port while they also made a remaster of the same game months before is really good. Skyrim is still in the top 30/25 in the global weekly. Doom barely sold 1 million physical on Xbox idk what y'all were expecting for a late port on a smaller install base, the game probably is around 400k now with digital and it's pretty good tbh. Sure exclusives are selling more but still third party really helps having a fuller library of games and more variety.

Fifa 18 and Skyrim coming for 1 million in a couple of weeks/months is stellar for the Switch. No wonder why it is getting W2, Fifa 19, NBA2k19, Fortnite, paladins etc. Won't get ES6 and GTA6 but tbh that's still huge for a portable device and the games are actually worth porting cause they sell well. This is a nice step in the right direction for Nintendo as they might think more of third party games for the next system since they are now seeing that it is selling on Switch.

Technology in the future will be even more remarkable and i would not be surprise if we can have a Switch 2 really close to what the PS5 will be doing (if it comes out like 3 years after tho..)

The Switch is getting great support for what it is. Basically everything that can come to it is coming, so that's a good thing. But it's not fit to replace a core home console like liquid laser said. Surely you know how full of shit he is.

Fair play to FIFA 18 and Skyrim, and why not keep porting sports titles? But they will continue to underperform compared to the competition. This time next year when Switch is close to Xbox One numbers, it still won't sell more copies of FIFA or 2K. Not even close.

The Switch will find success outside of Nintendo titles to some degree, but we all know the top sellers by far on the system are going to be all exclusive. Nintendo fans are crazy loyal to Nintendo games and even they know there are better alternatives for playing third party AAA's than Switch.

Well of course, i was just referring to you saying the games didn't sell on Switch. Of course FIFA won't sell 10 millions on Switch but crossing the million for FIFA18 when it was half assed is amazing. They are saying FIFA 19 will be a lot better than 18 on the Switch, which points out they actually see there is a market there.

Switch isn't made for third party, but it's getting enough support for people to only buy 1 support now for more casual gamers that likes Nintendo exclusives but are interested in Wolfenstein, Fifa, Fortnite etc. Also we will start seeing some third party exclusives now that the Switch is doing so well. I know Switch third party support from AAA games won't be bigger or much better than what it is right now with some games being ported like W2, Doom and Skyrim, but we will for sure see more AA exclusives and port to it.

You are still acting like Nintendo is in a separate market from Sony and Microsoft.  They are all in the same market.  The number of gamers who are "Nintendo only" or "Sony only" are extremely small.  Most gamers are just gamers.  They go to the console with the best games and the biggest library.

Third parties ARE going to bring their games to Switch.  To think otherwise is foolish.  Switch has a good size customer base, and it is selling the same types of games that are on PS4 and XB1.  Third parties ARE going to bring their games.  Is power an issue?  Hell no.  Square Enix released DQXI on the PS4 and the 3DS.  Third parties can port a game to a less powerful console if they want and Switch isn't that much weaker than PS4/XB1.  I mean people are acting like the Switch has the power of a 3DS.  No, it's not that much of a power difference and they could still port games to the 3DS if they really wanted to.  Third parties definitely can and will make games for the Switch.

Power is not an issue.  A different customer base is not an issue.  A low customer base is not an issue.  All of the issues that third parties might have had with Wii or Wii U are not there anymore.  On the other hand the Switch has one huge advantage that the PS5 doesn't have.  It's already on the market.  Third parties are not going to hold onto all of their games until 2020-2021 so that Sony can take their sweet time to release PS5.  They need to make money in the meantime.   If there is only one current console on the market, then it is pretty obvious which console is going to get the third party games.

This is why PS5 is in deep trouble.  If they wait, then they are going to get clobbered by the Switch.  I mean they could close their eyes and pretend like they aren't competing with Nintendo anymore, but they are in for a rude awakening if they do that.  (Although, I personally don't think Sony is nearly as naive as the posters in this thread who are defending the PS5.)

What sells the Switch? Is it Doom and Skyrim? Or is it Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash, Pokemon? Look at the software: http://www.vgchartz.com/platform/83/nintendo-switch/

If Skyrim can't sell 1 million in a year then what the fuck chance does anything else stand? Do you really think Switch could become the go to platform for AAA gaming? As in Switch being the lead platform for GTA 6, Elder Scrolls 6 and the like? You're tripping.

The reality is, PS4 will keep getting the lions share of third party titles up until the release of the PS5. Once PS5 is on the market, both it and PS4 will get cross gen games for the first year or so just like the beginning of this gen. The Switch will continue not to get CoD, BF, or any major AAA thrid party release outside of stuff that is big in Japan. What motivation does Bethesda have to bring Doom 2 to Switch when the first one can barely sell past 300k?

The PS5 will be fine. Switch'l do nuttin.. It'l do nuttin'.

One place where we differ is that you put a lot more emphasis on big Western titles than I do.  Switch won't get many Western exclusives, but most Western games are going to go multiplat and include Switch anyway.  Western developers are already making 5 versions of their games : PC, PS4, PS4 Pro, XB1, XB1X.  They might as well make a 6th version for the Switch.   These games are already made with scaling up/down in mind, so its not a big deal to scale the games down a little to the Switch.  It's definitely worth porting a game over if it's going to sell a million+ like Skyrim.  Of course you're not going to full see this until 2019 because most games take 2-3 years to develop.  Next week at E3, we'll see maybe 30-50% or so of Western games get a Switch version.  Starting next year, the majority of multiplat games will also get a Switch version.

Where Switch will really stand out though is with Japanese exclusives.  This is a bigger deal, because Japanese developers don't go multiplat to the extent that Western developers do, so third party exclusives will mostly be coming from Japan.  Switch is on track to surpass the PS4's total install base by late 2018/early 2019.  This means that Japanese developers see Switch as the main console to develop for.  Switch is going to get a lot of Japanese exclusives.  Of course, some Japanese games are going to be multiplat, but the ones that aren't are going to be mostly Switch exclusives.  Again, since games take at least a couple of years to make then you won't see too much of this next week at E3.  Switch will get a few third party exclusives next week, but PS4 will get more.  Next year that will reverse, and then Switch will just get more and more exclusives after that.

This is all why Sony needs to release PS5 ASAP.  They still aren't going to get many Japanese exclusives, but they'll actually get more Western exclusives.  Downgrading from PS4 to Switch is easy.  Downgrading from PS5 to Switch is much bigger deal and probably won't happen much.

Then I'm not at odds with you, I agree. The notion of Switch replacing a PS5 is nonsense though, which is what I was originally replying to. It's like some don't understand that Sony and Nintendo can both do exceedingly well. They don't eat into eachothers sales.

2018: PS4 > Switch

2019: PS4

Japanese developers  don't only care about japan, they care about WW just as much, even when switch passes ps4 in japan they will still support ps4/xb1 way more, with xb1 getting a free pass because the port job is so easy. As for porting ps4 being easy doesn't seem so, dark souls, and dragon quest being delayed since forever tell a different story, not to mention the lack of many big Japanese games like resident evil 7, MHW and final fantasy that would do great on switch but are not being ported because how the difficult the port job is. Which usually is a 3 month job. when ps5 comes out, it will  get ps4  games just upgraded to 60fps/4k which is fine and should be a cakewalk for a port team, much easier then downgrading to switch which many developers are not doing right now.

Well most PC gamers I know generally buy Nintendo consoles because most of he stuff on the other consoles is already on PC - and there even in beautiful. For them it mostly boils down to the exclusives, and while Sony did a really great job here, they still just can't compete in that domain with Nintendo in terms of quantity. Due to the high quality of PS4 exclusives quite a few PC gamers also bought a PS4 - but of those who were interested into those games most already have one and are much more inclined to buy a Switch now

We need a real source, instead of most pc gamers you know which is just anecdotal evidence.

Of course, just wanted to give an example

Yeah, agree, especially with Bayonetta 3, SMTV or The World End With You

Exactly, Doom, Wolfenstein 2, Ark, Paladin, Skyrim, SMTV, Bayonetta 3 are shitty small indie games for casual only
