I'm thinking just the opposite. What if Days Gone is basically ready to go, but PS don't want to release it because they don't have much to fill next years spring drought? If it won't be polished until fall, then there is no point in trying to release it because you have Spider-man and a bunch of huge AAA third party titles releasing then, so best to wait. This would allow them to start focusing on the new exclusive now, and if we won't be seeing PS5 until late 2020, or later, then it's possible depending on the genre and size of the game they are looking to make. Then again, maybe Days Gone is an entire year or two away from completion and would land around late 2019 or 2020 so the game ends up cross gen? But then how far away is TLOU2 and Death Stranding?

  • Current and Next Gen game console experience strongly desired.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with current UNREAL technology desired.

(Days Gone) Zombie Battle Royale?

Yeah, this is what I considered as well. Or that it just means for Days Gone. But you’d think they would say that, since the game has already been revealed.

It could be good or bad. PS has the ability to keep quiet because most everyone is busy playing great games, and there's enough upcoming this year to focus on. E3 should give us some indication on what the outlook of the game is. Considering most PS first party exclusives seem to be getting more and more polished by release as the gen goes on, the odds are against trouble at Bend, but sometimes 'somethings gotta go wrong because things are going too good'. Then again, sometimes when things seem good, the truth is 'we're only just getting started'. I get the feeling their just adding more coal shovelers to gain some more speed for the locomotive. The more trips it can make, the more passengers it can carry.

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

Sony also never released a midgen hardware update either, but reason for not releasing the title on previous platform was different architecture, the game are being developed with two systems in mind Pro and Base, with PS5 having same architecture its pretty safe to assume that all the title in development will be  forward compatible. I think first gen PS5 games will all be backward compatible, then slowly phase out the base PS4. and phase out ps4 pro when PS5 pro launches.

It's not forward compatibility, it's a cross gen title and it's still probability. If SONY trying to make games for PS5 based on PS4 hardware (forward compatibility) then it would be a waste of PS5 power and resource. Same architecture doesn't means it use the same base system as benchmark. I am not seeing a scenario where first party games made for forward compatibility by sacrificing all the benefit of future PS5 hardware and graphic. PS4 is different from PS5 even if it's share the same architecture the games are different. It's not like PC (or pro version)  where games are brute force to enhanced. Consoles games are made on optimization and code to metal coding.

I m saying all the game that are released on PS4 and have been patched for PS4 pro for 4k those will continue to work on PS5 with some kind of brute force processing, maybe at hardware level, like checkered board rendering on PS4 Pro, thats forward compatibility. and as for Games developed for PS5 (first gen games) will be playable on PS4, it will be stupid of sony not to take advantage of the similar architecture, which will be the first time two gens sharing similar architecture, and not to mention how much good PR MS have gained because of their BC efforts, sony wouldn't wanna come off as the company as anti gamer, when their rival will sure include it

And why do you assume PS5 will not carry on PS4 features in its architecture along with its new powerful implementations??, remastering a game early in the generation will be a waste of resources and man power. Sony has never done a cross gen game, charging twice for the same game for two different systems, Nope. PS3 and PSvita did it with cross buy. Also At the start of PS4 gen in 2013 Sony did say that they would have loved to have a version of their 2013 exclusive games running on ps3 to run on PS4, but due to different architecture that was not possible. now sony doesnt have this excuse anymore.

So in short games will be designed for a specific architecture irrespective of their hardware grunt, games engine will automatically scale to the system its being played on, and whatever games that are announced for PS4 up till 2020 will be designed that way.

Although i wont be surprised if sony drops the support for base ps4 at launch of PS5 and continue with PS4 pro as the base model for two years more.

Sounds premature... they havent even released Days gone...

It could be time for a Syphon Filter return though. Metal gear alreadyexited the stage and left a vacant spot. Heck, they can even consult Kojima now. xD
