Forums - Sales Discussion - March NPD 2018. Hardware and Software Results. PS4 #1 for HW. Far Cry 5 #! for SW

So Far Cry 5 outsold 2 months of Monster Hunter in just 1 week?
That’s depressing.

What does this quote actually mean?

"This was driven mainly by Microsoft’s Xbox One, though Sony’s PlayStation 4 remains the best-selling console in March and 2018. The Nintendo Switch 32GB with red and blue Joycon controllers was the best-selling hardware in March and 2018."

Switch sold more units or what?

Switch Neon Red and Neon Blue ist the bestselling SKU of all. Keep in mind Switch has only 2 SKU (neon and gray, Mario Red and Splatoon Neon are long sold out already) while PS4 and XBO have multiple SKU, thus splintering those sales between all of them. PS4 sold more units total, but no single SKU sold more than the Neon Switch.

Kirby probably got through 400K with digital during the first 2/3 weeks in USA, which I guess would mean 500K in NA overall.

Counting Japan sales + the overall growth it had in Europe. It must have been at 1.1M at the beginning of April.

Maybe, it'll be at 1,5M when Nintendo will anounce it's official numbers at it's financial meeting.

Those are great numbers for Kirby, possibly beating Japan???

Edit: nevermind

Still, I don't think it's ... THAT depressing ...

Monster Hunter can only grow so much per one game. It still sold probably close to 2 million copies in North America alone in two months. That's pretty big for the kind of game it is.

Where does it say that?

Venturebeat article at the end of the OP. And yes, bestselling game of the year so far in the US.

Switch sold more units or what?

1. XBO is making the most revenue mostly due to the Xbox One X

2. PS4 is the best selling console

3. The Red and Blue joycon switch console sku is the best selling bundle/sku. Doesnt mean the switch is the ebst selling console.

So what I read somewhere else is that the Neon Switch model is the best selling hardware model of the year and March but collectively the ps4 family sold more than the ps family?

Yep definitely missed that lol. Thanks.

Got to say very surprised and impressed that Sea of Thieves made it to the second highest spot and became the highest selling exclusive of March, despite it being on Gamepass and the backlash the game got. Very curious to see how it will perform in the coming months.
