I can't tell if this is praise for RDR or a slur for the X.

And what about those of us who view "better" as meaning, the way it was originally released? When I play OOT, I want to play it on a real N64 on a CRT with an N64 controller and the surround sound system turned on just like it's the 90's. That's the way it was suppose to be played and playing it any other way, makes it a different game entirely. For people like me, buying a "new" version=worse. There's no value in it at all. If I want new games, I'll buy new games. If I want old games, I'll buy old games. |
Then the Framemeister would be wasted on you.

well its one of the best reasons, but yea i over hyped it :). |
As someone who doesn't own a X1 but does own a massive library of original Xbox and 360 titles, BC has been one of the most compelling features they have bought to the X1 system.
That said, I still have 2 X360s which do a perfectly fine job of running those games and in fact the resolution boost would be lost on me as I play games at either 1080p or below that on various different screens/projector.
But yeah the BC efforts are commendable to be sure.

even on 1080p screen the game would be super sampled, it would still be a gigantic leap.

Rockstar San Diego made RDR actually, not North. The engine team that made the RAGE engine that Rockstar has been using since 2006 is at Rockstar San Diego as well. And yes, those are original textures. All XB1 X does is bump the resolution up by 6x, and give better texture filtering I believe, which is baked into XB1 X at the hardware level. |
Make that a 9x resolution bump (or an 800% increase in pixel count), 16x AF and a locked 30fps. The power of the X.

Common that is why we all must have hacked consoles and rooted phones because we only buy these new devices to run emulators and not pirated games lol. Using the old tech is just too logical for everyone lol. I agree with you. Nothing like the original experience. |
Tell that to the poor sods that played Bayonetta on the PS3.

Or who watched porn on a Nokia 3210 screen.
Sometimes tech brings us new shiny things with multipurpose screen protectors!!

It's not exactly 500e worth of difference really though is it? I mean for the same money I could upgrade from my 780TI to a 1080TI considering I still play stuff at 1080p it would effectively be equally underutilized power considering I currently can get OW to 300fps @ 1080p but would still be possible to turn on even crazier light effects while at that silly frame rate.
I just mean, for now the perks of an X1X to me include the ability to play games I already can play but with a framerate and resolution which my nostalgia googles already has applied to my memories of those titles :D If I was to go back and play some of the games from last gen right now I would be a little taken aback that GTA4 doesn't look as shiny as GTAV on PS4/PC but still I don't think I'm going to shell out the cash when I could easily get the PC versions of those older titles and do more with them.
I'm certain though that people who don't have a Ps4 or gaming rig would be delighted with all the extra bells and whistles that the X brings to their gaming, I'm trying not to sound too negative on the system while just getting across the point that I don't think it's for me.

Ryzen 7 1700, 16GB 3000mhz DDR4 vengeance teamed up with a MSI OC Twin Frozr 780ti @1085mhz and 6.25TB of storage (250gb SSD, 2x3TB 7200rpm high performance drives)
780TI is a few years old, but it's on par/better than a 1060 and this comparison uses the stock clock of the 780TI which would be 785mhz

Easily capable of pretty much any graphics task at 1080p at least.
