I mean why do you need to win every region? give something to us.

The only place switch is winning is japan.

PS4 sold 5,152,730 units in a year in the U.S.

Switch so far has sold 5,068,113 unit ... with 42 days until it's first anniversary in the U.S........

Yeah, keep saying the Switch isn't winning the U.S. ... ;)

Did you bother reading what this thread was about? Because Rol isn't even saying Nintendo can, will, or should take over Sony as being the dominant manufacturer, rather they can challenge Sony's dominance. This is exceedingly possible as we can see was the case in Gen 7. Furthermore, Sony's foray into handheld gaming never challenged Nintendo even in your so-called "Sonyland."

And no one brought up the 360.

gen 7 was lighting in a bottle that wont happen again .

"Europe is Sonyland."
-Conventional wisdom

It didn't slip past my attention that Europe is commonly considered a Sony territory, even by Nintendo fans. The big question that everyone is asking is what Nintendo can do to make it less one-sided with Switch. I will answer this question in this thread.

Here are some observations I have made about the European market.  The UK console market is the largest market for any single European country, however it seems significantly different than the console market for mainland Europe.  In the UK Microsoft does fairly well and Nintendo has a harder time.  In the rest of Europe Nintendo does extremely well, but Microsoft has a much harder time.  Sony does well everywhere.  So when you lump all of these countries together it tends to put Sony on top, because it is doing well everywhere.

I would say if Nintendo wants to do better it needs 2 different strategies.  In the UK it needs to convince Sony/Microsoft consumers to "Switch" to Nintendo.  In the rest of Europe Nintendo simply needs to grow the market.  It's already #1 in a lot of European countries, but it can still bring in more people.

Playstation fans are blind sheep confirmed.

And the Switch outsold the first year of the PS4 in North America.

Consoles don't peak in their first year, no matter how desperately you want that to happen to the Switch.

I know this is suppose to be sarcastic satire, but try not to generalize like that.

That's not a get-out-of-jail free card, quickrick. The fact of the matter is, it happened. And again, Nintendo has always performed well with handhelds in Europe. Disprove the fact that Nintendo dominated in Gen 7 (which, I mean, you can't) and that Nintendo consistently dominates with handhelds and then tell me why they can't do it again without going back to "it won't happen again" or "it's Sonyland!"

it happened in a different time, and different market as of now it's almost impossible imo, and looking nintendo own chart, it looks like switch is at 3.5 million in europe which is miles away from ps4.

You forgot to mention that Nintendo was doomed from the start

They are doomed - doomed to finish second.

So you don't really have anything to back up your claims. Good to know.

Were you using the Wii/DS sales as argument?

They need to make a powerful console that can handle the big 3rd party games. They also need to start making new, big IPs more frequently.
