Sure, be happy with ports if that's what you want. I mean who even needs original content, right? I love lazy ports i.e. Doom @ 576p 20 fps. The switch definitely cannot handle ports that aren't from a decade ago which have outdated graphics and meh gameplay design so it needs original content that are more optimised for its hardware. |
Its not hard to understand that some people didnt play those ports ever, espacily when we talk about Wii U ports that had very limited userbase that Switch already passed few months ago, so for those people those games are practically new. Also all those games extra value for people that play them beacuse now they can play them in full handheld mod. Calling Doom 20 fps is totally wrong, it have dips to 20 fps but most of time runs at 30 fps. Switch can handle every port of devs really want to port some game to Switch, Wii handheld ports PS3/360 CoD games, and difrence betwine Wii and PS3/360 was much bigger than between Switch and XB1/PS4, going from brute source to new APIs, tools, tech/architecture.
So we getiing to questions why Switch has so many ports!? Because for new games it needs copule of years of development, why you can port game thats already out in less than year, and with point that plenty of devs didnt want to go from start with Switch support after Wii U, we seeing so much ports beacuse they can be done in few months.

So surely you should be able to understand that other people might find different things "good"? |
Funny, considering you're the one who started questioning/belittling his stance.
| adisababa said: It's not about liking the games, it's the fact that at least 50% of them are ports that we've played up to over a decade ago. Who cares about the quantity of releases when half of them were already over and done with. This is abysmal third party support and definitely a terrible lineup so far of 2018. |
Did you not see the list of 2017 games? There was only 3 good games for Switch, 2 of them were ports.
I swear, VGC is having the exact same conversation it had a year ago. When will you learn?

It's underwhelming at the moment compared to 2017, I agree.
Still, I look at my most anticipated 2018 games and a lot are on Switch:
Super Smash Bros.
Fire Emblem (is this still 2018?)
Yoshi
Kirby
Mario Tennis
Octopath
Dragon: Marked for Death
Away: Journey to the Unexpected (I think this is PC too?)
Add in a bunch of ports for WiiU games I still haven't played and some must-have multi-platform games like Street Fighter 30th Anniversary and the new Monster Boy and it's not a bad look only three months in.
I think the only 2018 games I'm really missing on Switch are Metro: Exodus, Darksiders 3, and Guacamelee 2.
Only games I'm interested in for this year is just Pokemon and Octopath.

(a unified development team isn't much of an advantage when it's still just as hard to push out new high production value titles on higher end systems for them) |
LABO is #35 on the Amazon yearly chart, right behind the highest PS4 SKU, so if Amazon is any indicator, we can expect it to sell roughly the same FW that the PS4 Slim has this year. Any idea of that figure?
DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.
ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!
In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!
I feel the same and understand it. It's only Ocotopath Traveller which I'm really interrested in. And Tennis maybe. Yoshi could also be good. But I'm really missing Super Mario Maker or Pikmin 4. Well, let's wait until E3, but so far 2017 is by far the better year with Zelda, Kart, Arms, Splatoon, Odyssey and Xenoblade. If you don't like Smash this year is disappointing so far. Still hope for a new IP.
Here is latest Switch announcement that's not port/remaster, V-Rally 4 just is just announced for all platforms with September release.

Don't know where are you getting the idea that ports mean we can't also have original content, I certainly never said that. I don't see the Doom port as lazy but rather an achievement they got it to run decently enough on the system at all, one that shows Switch can handle 8th gen ports. Obviously you can't realistically expect 8th gen ports to run as well on much less powerful hardware.
