10 tons of elephant shit outclasses 9 tons of chocolate in quantity also.

You're going off the rails again. I remember last year.

Just saying, as a Switch owner who loves the system, I would like more fresh new games on it that are on the same level as Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, Kingdom Battle, etc.

The first 10 on the 2018 List donr make even a half of BotW. Sorry.

I'm not surprised given OP's state, Nintendo is obviously not off to a good start if they are banking on finding a golden nugget over duds among duds ... (a unified development team isn't much of an advantage when it's still just as hard to push out new high production value titles on higher end systems for them)

Most of Switch's notable releases so far are titles from WII U which failed to become system sellers on it's initial platform and nobody is hyped about Mario Tennis Aces since the last time the franchise broke 2M units was back on the N64, Kirby is about as relevant as Yoshi or Luigi are and hardly anybody is pre-ordering Labo so it looks like they read the market wrong again ...

I don't think Nintendo is necessarily trying to find a golden nugget per se. The Switch is still selling well and some of the latest announced games are supposedly charting well on Amazon (doesn't paint the whole picture, but its something to consider). And to your Labo point, Nintendo has already stated the purpose of it and from hands-on impressions, whether it children and/or adults, it appears to be mostly positive. It's not meant for the so-called hardcore gamer and that's fine. It allows the opportunity to expand the audience of the Switch, as the audience right now are mostly young adults according to Nintendo's demographic data.

It's kinda weird people doubting the Switch's initial success when BoTW was supposedly the only relevant launch title and there's nothing to play until MK8D in April and then nothing original until ARMS in June.

Now, we're saying even with quality ports and AA titles like Octopath Traveler, Kirby, Yoshi, etc., along with a couple of AAA titles like Smash Bros., its not gonna make up what BoTW and Mario Odyssey started last year. And we forget that games like Odyssey, Zelda, and Splatoon 2 are evergreen titles. Splatoon 2 is about to get its first single-player expansion so that will create some new interest and its still among the top sellers in Japan.

What's interesting about that current 2018. lineup is that around 80% of that lineup is until July, so that basicly means that we yet to start having announcements from August to December, and full 2018. year list will be at least 50% stronger at end.

So yes, Switch 2018. lineup will blow away Switch 2017. lineup in terms of quantity and variety of games, talking about quality, well hardly that we will have any game on pair with Zelda BotW and Mario Odyssey that are one of most critically acclaimed games ever.

You sound very similar like people that said that Switch will fail. Switch is still selling great and they are keep momentum, Nintendo has plenty of releases on Switch without droughts even there are plenty of ports.

Wii U had great games but all of them come out too late on system, Wii U was consider for fail very early in its first year, so later great games couldnt change nothing for Wii U, but if Wii U had games like MK8, Splatoon, Zelda BotW and 3D Mario in its first year, things would be quite difrent for Wii U. In same time on Switch games like MK8D, Zelda BotW and Splatoon 2 are all huge system seller despite we had Splatoon 1, MK8 and Zelda BotW also on Wii U, not to mentione that Switch already few months ago passed Wii U install base so Wii U ports are practically like brand new games on Switch for evre person exept Wii U owners that will soon become. Games like Kirby, Octopath Traveler and Mario Tennis are not big games, but with Wii U ports, they are enugh to continue Switch momentum and they aactually bringing more variety of Switch lineup. Labo will most likly be biggest Switch release until Smash Bros is launched, and most likly will be quite popular.

It's not about liking the games, it's the fact that at least 50% of them are ports that we've played up to over a decade ago. Who cares about the quantity of releases when half of them were already over and done with. This is abysmal third party support and definitely a terrible lineup so far of 2018.

That's all on the third parties then. Nintendo can only ask so much for support. Third parties are playing catch-up and, with HD development being expensive, you can only develop so much within a 1-2 year time schedule. Make games like Octopath Traveler, Bayonetta 3, SMT V, Mega Man 11, Blade Strangers, and Travis Strikes Back: No More Heroes.

But it's also about perspective. Is there potential for more gamers to play games like TWEWY, Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad, Dragon Quest Builders, Code of Princess, or DKC Tropical Freeze? Possibly, especially since the Switch is a popular console now. Personally, I haven't played a majority of these games being released in 2018 and I'm sure there's are fair amount of people who are like that.

Uh speak for yourself, though I highly doubt it's the truth for you aswell. No way every single person has played every single port already. Also by claiming it's a terrible line-up I'm assuming you believe ports count for nothing despite countless proof of the contrary, that ports can infact be just as significant as new games. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the second best selling Switch game, and Pokken Tournament DX is above a million alongside brand new games like Mario Rabbids and ARMS.

Sure, be happy with ports if that's what you want. I mean who even needs original content, right? I love lazy ports i.e. Doom @ 576p 20 fps. The switch definitely cannot handle ports that aren't from a decade ago which have outdated graphics and meh gameplay design so it needs original content that are more optimised for its hardware.

direct was good for 3DS a dead system is having some support. not bad.

Switch was OK. we had news and updates. but yes Switch needs to wow at E3 with a BOMB announcement and 2018 needs 2 more great games.

Switch!!!
