Forums - Politics Discussion - North Korea begins negotiations with US on abandoning its nuclear weapons

I would see stronger benefit to negotiating with China rather than North Korea. If Trump could entice China with economic deals and build an overall stronger relationship with them, there will be no need for North Korea. China will stop massive trade with North Korea and essentially fracture the entire country. The need to have them as a buffer zone will be eradicated and China will be able to rid their hands of them. Even Xi Jinping hates Kim Jon Un and wants out of this alliance badly.

I wonder what the concessions were, if true. Hopefully the US gets its ass out of South Korea and Japan.

“It made it clear that it would have no reason to keep nuclear weapons if the military threat to the North was eliminated and its security guaranteed.”

So they're just gonna demand that the US completely pulls out of South Korea and Japan and ceases all military drills.

Sounds reasonable.

Precisely what China would want, so I'm not particularly surprised this announcement comes following his recent visit.

Japan doesnt have an actual military

Constitutionally they don't, but in reality they do. The annual military budget is more than $46 billion and they currently have the 8th largest military budget in the world. They even outspend South Korea, the country who is in far more danger.

Agree with u, but i will fix some of your statement. The constitutional amendment are not very clear, and since the US war with  North Korea happened , japan has been tried to define the constitution about not having army , and start to build their army for the purpose of defending them self . It called JSDF . But Abbe the current prime minister now building more power and double the current budget because of the treat of China.
