A new DS model, sure. A replacement is years off, though.

If there were to be a new modle if would only feature cosmetic changes. Secondly there won't be, if there is i shall eat a shoe and video myself doing it as proof. there is no sensible logical reason for a new ds design.

Sweet, if this is true, I'm gonna have to check it out, seeing as how I don't have a DS now. I'll hold off on a new handheld a bit longer...
I believe some people here confuse the idea of an udated DS with that of an entirely new generation of handheld. I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't be releasing their next handheld anytime soon, not as long as the DS is the world's best selling gaming machine. An updated version, like the Lite over the original design, yes, that would be rather expected. In fact, I'd be surprised if Nintendo didn't release at least information about an updated DS Lite, seeing as how it's kinda getting to a saturation point.

EVERYONE always gets confused with things like "Wii HD" or a new DS design.
The Game Boy Advance started with a horizontal, large configuration, with no backlight. Then the SP came out...it was a flip design and was backlit. Finally there was the Micro, a very tiny version of the GBA. But NONE of these were different in their capabilities...you could play any GBA game on any GBA system.
If there was a new DS with new hardware features and new games to go with it...the old DSs could not play those games...and that would be sooo stupid.
Honestly, I don't expect an announcement on a new DS design until the end of this year at the earliest.

I hope they change the control layout.
Playing MK ds on the lite is hard.
I hope the new DS has new features like the ability to play VC games by SD card and maybe they might add some non- gaming features.
That would be awesome if it was was unveiled in the E3

Hope it has an analog stick, and the graphics are around GCish.
