As we have seen pretty much this entire generation, Capcom doesn't like to do late ports and often just keeps their games exclusive from day 1. Otherwise we would have seen MH on Vita :P.

RE Revelations 1 + 2 as well as Mega Man Legacy Collection say hi.

True, i remember that leak and a lot of the info on it matched what we got, so im willing to believe the part about Sony keeping the Switch out of the platforms for the game.

I'm rather willing to believe that the development started long before the Switch was explained to Capcom. Sony would have to consider the Switch a serious competitor to make such a move.

Either way, a port of MHW is highly unlikely imo.

Both very small games for Capcom, so I should have said it is rare. Case in point RE rev 1 + 2 instead of RE7.

And it is 2 or 3 games out of how many?

Technically it's very possible. There will be frame dips, and docked, it won't go higher than 900p or even 720 but it has all the modern APIs to run a game like MHW, and that's why developers can come out and say something like this. The RAM that devs are able to utilize on PS4 is around 2GB more than what devs have to work with on Switch so sacrifices can be made for the game to run at an acceptable level.

Capcom ain't gonna do it, they love excuses and cutting corners in business. So give it to someone else.

I don't know about 900p. Hell, I don't know about 700p.
Doom, that ran at 1080p and locked 60fps on PS4, runs at around 576p-600p @30fps (with frame pacing issues) while docked on Switch. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-dooms-impossible-switch-port-analysed
And Monster Hunter World struggles to run at 30fps even on it's lead platform, PS4. Without the ability to cut the framerate in half here (because it's already 28-32f on PS4), there will probably need to be a lot of visual sacrifices made. Possibly more than for Doom.

By lead platform, do you mean strongest?

Because if so, that'd be Xbox One X.

At the end of the day there is no concrete proof so it comes down to wether you believe the leak or not, and in my case considering how many things in the leak ended up being true im willing to believe it, and i do think they consider Nintendos handhelds (the previous platform for MH) a strong competitor, especially in Japan so it comes to no surprise that they went the extra mile and signed a exclusivity deal for MHW in that country.

As I recall though, that leak did say that Switch had it's own MH game in development for it. Could have been the XX Switch port it was referring to, or maybe Switch has a proper MH game in development for it right now, with a planned worldwide release.

The leak is really old (iirc like 2 years old actually) so it did meant XX.

Yikes, looks like it's going to be a blurry, 10fps mess then, lol. But if they really wanted to, they could implement smart geometry loading, low texture resolutions, lower poly models...egh..nevermind. Just make a new Switch friendly MH. I'd still like to see what they can do with it though. And Capcom isn't really used to developing games on this scale, so I wonder how much of the poor performance falls on their lack of experience or engine overcomplications.

If I remember correctly Capcom also has Monster Hunter XX for Switch in Japan, so that's 3 out of 4, with the fourth being Ultra Street Fighter II.  Treat that one how you see fit.

We have the developers themselves saying that the game started development long before the Switch was announced. I call that a proof.

Can they do it if given the chance?

any game can be ported to almost any platform.

the question is how modified it would need to be to run on certain platforms. In the case of MHW, probably lot is going to have to be downsized.

I was more concerned on how stable they can make it run on the device, if ever, as I felt like I got scammed on Arkham Knight for the PC, that was my first ever refund and hopefully the last. Though still bought  it after a sale later on for around $12 as I don't want the season pass to go to waste.

Nintendo Switch FC: SW-6340-7643-4233 aka Renji

Steam: Lee Roid

Rather than risking the chance of a bad port and tarnishing the game, it's probably safer/better for Capcom to just make a MH game from the ground up that fully utilizes the Switch's potential and power.

I still think he's coming, but not now, only there for next year (2019). Capcom is no foolish, it's going to take a while to produce another MH of that size, so she's launching MHW on Swtch later to earn revenue when game sales stagnate on other platforms. Announcing the mere possibility of MHW on the Switch would take away game sales on PS4 or Xone at this time. Not to mention that the installed base of Switch in Japan only increases, so this MH in Japan sells easy 3 million by the end of next year. The port quality will be pretty low of course, but Japanese do not want graphics, they want MH on the go. It just does not happen that MHW in the Switch a Capcon does not like money or she has been receiving money from Sony not to launch on Nintendo platforms. She will also be cautious not to compete in the same period with Pokémon, although in Japan the two franchises are very powerful.
