alex - when did it become fact that- "most of the people who play video games are adults"?? You just proved the it to be false by finishing out your question. "how come the Nintendo DS is outselling the Playstation Portable 2:1?" Maybe if you get techinical and say that when parents buy a game for thier children that an adult is buying the game, but you said playing not buying. and the DS has outsold the PSP , 1.51 : 1, not 2:1. and the PSP just had a pricecut and some of its best games are coming this year. In the US I think the PSP is poised to make a run at close the gap IN THE US.

Er, the PSP is actually getting outsold by the DS 2.1 to 1. Worldwide, the install base for the DS is already 2.1:1 over the PSP, and currently, the DS is outselling the PSP 4.3:1 in the US, as you can see here:

I absolutely totally agree that the PSP has some great games, and will have even more in the near future. But there's pretty much no chance of ever overcoming a worldwide 2.1:1 deficit, especially when you're being outsold 4.3:1 right now (meaning, the gap is widening, not closing). Just remember that getting outsold doesn't mean the PSP is a bad system, or that it doesn't have very good games. The Gamecube and N64 had great games too, and they weren't their market leaders.

But I do agree that the PSP has some great titles coming. We'll see what happens!

No the DS is outselling the PSP 5 : 1 in Japan, 3 : 1 in America, and 2 : 1 in Europe. We have a sales chart on site, USE IT.

I don't know. I read somewhere that most people who play video games are adults. The Nintendo DS only has one M rated game, which is kind of sad. Anyways, it is two to one. Almost exactly!

Nintendo DS: 43.57 million sold, worldwide.

Sony Playstation Portable: 21.51 million sold, worldwise.

alex is right, its true that most gamers are adults.

The average Gamer is estimated to be 27 Years old :P

And that 1.5 : 1 figure is for just the USA, worldwide it is 2:1 as Alex Said :P

Yeah, there we go! I highly doubt that, by coincidence, every single child who owns a portable, owns a Nintendo DS.

If Microsoft's going to port Viva Pinata to the DS, it can only mean one thing... Wii60! j/k Personally, I think the PSP is doing considerably well, mainly because it's competing against a monster.

Is there anyone who really likes Viva Pinata? Kind of childish, isn't it? Oh well, the Xbox 360 needed some childish games.

 and your info from??

"mature" dont be = adults, "mature" means blood and violence, having a false rating of 17+ because this games be played by kids and teens, why many people dont understand this?

It would be a disaster for Microsoft to release a handheld now, they're already trying to compete in the ipod market (yes they have that much of a monopoly the market should be named after them) and with both the DS and PSP showing very strong sales the competition is just too great. And I think the DS is holding the majority of the younger handheld market while the PSP is more cut out for the older gamers, so it would be very hard for them to find a niche.
