Forums - Politics Discussion - Delaware students can now choose their own race (Yes, RACE!) under new regulations.

How can mirrors be real if your races aren't real?

If races are also self defined, like genders nowadays, does it mean BLM will allow one of its lead members be a white person pretending to be black like above?

I don't think that works. One is a racialist movement, the other is a post-racialism. You can't really have it both ways.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Your user name now scares the bejesus out of me.

It's obvious that the guy on the left is black and the guy on the right is white.

You had a spelling mistake, but I corrected it for you :D

But to answer your question, yes even if your face is not real mirrors can still be real.

Another question: How can humans be real if races/god/poop/unicorns/you/me/time/blue/feet/onions aren´t real?

"Could you state what argument you are trying to support utilizing that study?"

No real biological race, but differences and the differencies being something else than what people would expect. For example the eastern finns being more different from the western finns than germans from the british.

If this is a serious question, the answer is "no."  The reason is that, socially, "races" are defined as a group.  The reason you can choose your own race on paper is much more about logistics than anything else.

I identify as a God. My name is Erebus. Provide me a tropical island with a mansion with access to the internet, worshipers on hallucinogens, a harem of beautiful women aged 25 to 35 from Australia, Sweden, Italy, Ukraine and enough riches so I'm able to live a lifestyle that conforms with my identity. If you don't comply, you're guilty of denying my existence and you'll go to jail for hate crimes. 🙏

I fail to see any negative consequences coming from this.
Serious question, why should I, or anyone give a toss how someone identifies?

I agree that there is no need to come up with bullshit new pronouns when we already have gender-nonspecific "they" (singular) and "it".

However, I disagree with that guy's objection on the grounds of his absolute right to view gender as 100.00% binary with no grey area existing in any individuals.  Isn't that just as unscientific as the "no races exist" position you were just attacking?

For the guideline in question, I would be interested to know whether it was designed to (1) actually force people to call others by any pronoun that person may choose; or (2) stop people from forcing an unwanted "him" or "her" on someone who doesn't feel they hew to that standard (e.g. a landlord insisting on "him" for a post-op transgender who has turned to a woman)

And what does that have to do with digital record maintenance within Deleware public K-12 schooling?

Affirmative action tends to be a thing in tertiary schooling and private schooling, neither of which seem to be covered under this regulation, however, even if they were, I don't believe there is any language within this regulation which implies that these self-identified classifications are forced to override other checks when necessary. There is even language within this regulation which states that any scholarships within this school system may not discriminate based on any protected characteristics, making it explicit that race-specific grants and scholarships are not allowed under this regulation.

So, it seems they thoroughly covered your concerns...

Stop trying to downplay it into "digital record maintenance". It affects everything  from bathrooms to how sports will work out. If you identify yourself as black when you're actually white or asian, it will help you when you try to get into college because the school has you on the record as black.

It could easily expand to colleges.

WAIT WAIT WAIT.  The topic of the OP was self-reporting on RACE.  And you are saying it affects BATHROOMS?  Are you suggesting that the state of Delaware in 2018 has racially segregated bathrooms?  If not, what were you saying here?

Nope. It was sarcasm. The double standards of the left usually amuses me.
