Hideki Kamiya should have just done this from the start, as it may have cut some of the PS4/XBO port requestings. Although I'm sure Kamiya did make such comments before on why Bayo 2 was exclusive to the Wii U and now Switch, along with Bayo 3.

Sorry, unrelated, but I can't over that profile pic. I just finished marathoning the popteam episodes with a couple of friends about a few hours ago and casually have been seeing vids and pics since then. Literally me reading the comments while doing work and turning to see your pic. I thought I was going crazy for a second lol.

OT: Yea, Kamiya and PlatiinumGames have explained it before in the past, but I think this is the first time he's been this cordial about it. I hope its informative enough to quell the demand. I personally don't mind if people want a port, my issue is more towards the direct requests and/or demands towards PG, whose hands really are tied.

Oh my gosh, this is so great. This gave me a great laugh~ I am totally keeping it xD But yeah, I've been enjoying Pop Team Epic myself. It's pretty weird, but sometimes I like things that are different from the norm.

On topic, I do hope these tweets will put this Bayonetta topic to rest, at least a little bit... I dunno how this discussion is still going so long after the fact.

A lot of people act like Nintendo isn't allowed to have third party exclusives.

Sometimes I wonder if Nintendo's allowed to revel in success and positive news.

There's no precedence that I can think of right now where a development studio approached a different third party publisher from the one who owns the IP to successfully get a sequel funded. There's also no precedence of third party publishers teaming up to continue a failed IP of one of them. That's the kind of scenario where only console manufacturers are realistic options, because adding an exclusive game to their lineup makes sense in a business context, unlike in the two previously mentioned examples.

Why it had to be done is because there's no precedence of a single entry third party IP receiving a sequel way down the line, at least I can't think of any. Continually rising development costs make it all the more unlikely that a dormant IP that had only one game gets revived eventually.

It certainly is a curious case. One would think that SEGA had done a little bit more here.

I don't doubt that Platinum felt themselves to be in a hopeless position when it comes to the IP. You say that it's hard to pitch an old IP to anyone but console publishers, does that mean you think it's easier to pitch a new IP? Because that was also an option they could've taken. An option that I would've preferred greatly. I mean they did that with W101 and that's fine. But you have to understand that it's always a critical thing of moving an IP away from its fans as a way to "save" it. At that point you didn't really save the IP, but just your own game, disregarding the people who actually enjoyed it.

Kamiya probably had all of the good intentions (or not) but that doesn't cure the bad taste this decision left in most people's mouths.

Most people's mouths? You mean Sony fan's mouths

Yes, and that's the problem.

There's a reason why Kamiya suggests that people should ask Nintendo for Mario and Zelda on PS and Xbox. The copyrights of Bayonetta 2 and 3 effectively turn these games into Nintendo first party titles.

That's your own issue, not mine.

There is also a huge difference between third party asking and first party.

Yeah, because you have a huge difference issue

Bayonetta 2 was announced as a Nintendo exclusive in 2012, and here we are in 2018 still having the same conversations we had back then. Surely it's long past time people reached the acceptance stage and moved on.

If you want to play Bayonetta 2 and 3 that badly, just get a Switch.

We could say the same for just about any game, except it won't stop people on here or anywhere else, in asking for a port of a game to their system of choice.

There is always someone who says they'll wait for a PS4/X1/PC/Switch version. Always is, always will be.

Yeah, I want BloodBorne on Switch

Yeah.  Still waiting for Uncharted on my Switch.  I don't get what is taking Sony so long.

Silly me, I forgot that Ninty somehow now owns the Beyonetta IP in it's entirety, and designed it from the ground up since the first game...

Still doesn't stop the point being reversed from what I said before.

Yep, that is why Bayonetta 1 is multiplat, Nintendo own the code of 2&3

Nah mate, you don't even understand to begin with. BUt if you want to start this ride all over again, you'll be on your own.

A totally new and different IP?. Go for it.

Good job on reading comprehension.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Bayonetta 1 is a new IP, isn't it? So Nintendo grab the second and the third, Sony and Microsoft didn't care about Bayo 1 to fund the second, after it's sales you think they will suddenly care about it? Nintendo is the only one who can fund the third after low sales of Bayo 2

Good!

i like this co-owning!

Switch!!!
