Now that we have our first VGC numbers for 2018, this comparison can now begin! It's the battle to determine the Peak Year of the PlayStation 4. Sony sold approximately 20.2 million PS4 units in 2017, making it the 3rd home console in history to do it after the PS2 and the Wii. Ironically, both of those systems had back to back years of 20+ million units sold and all fingers point to the PS4 doing the same in 2018. Those fingers are also pointing to 2018 being the peak year of the PS4. So, from the User who brought you the Triple Threat Match between 2015, 2016, and 2017, comes the 1 on 1 clash of Titans! 2017 vs. 2018!

I think it will do be down from 2017 this year. I think it will be up a bit in japan but will be down in US and around the same in Europe. Nothing extreme, just think there is not much in 2018 that hasn't already been done. Maybe it will be up if Sony cuts the price but otherwise its a no from me.

UP YOY God of War, Spiderman, RDR2, Monster Hunter World, Shadow of The Colossus. And the other Multiplats like FIFA or COD are Bigger than Nioh, Horizon, Nier, Persona 5 and a few more.

Yup... here we go. My prediction is that it will be up this year by anything between 500k and 2M. All depending on GoW, RDR2 bundle and a $199 official price drop.

I'll say it will be slightly up from 2017, but it is dependent on Sony's pricing this year. The software is there but they will need the right pricing and bundles to make it happen. Either way, even if 2018 is on par with 2017, that would be a great result.

I think it will be up this year due to the plethora of games coming out this year- exclusive and third party games, with marketing deals such as monster hunter world, RDR2 and Far cry 5. Also it could be down if there’s no price cut, a 199-249 ps4 with a 99-150 holiday price would obliterate competition. This year will be an interesting year to follow the PS4 to see whether it will peak in its 5th full year or not.
