Meds don't help depression. They're just postponing it and eventually making it worse.

Sorry, but I'm going to go with the advice of professionals

The professionals who probably get donations from pharmaceutical companies. I've read discussions where the companies most likely don't want a cure, they just want temporary solutions to the symptoms so you'll keep getting more.

We're covered under insurance though...

That's how the pharma industry works. I had to take asthma sprays for 15 years until some other doctor discovered I was simply allergic and never had any asthma. No. The spray WAS CAUSING THE ASTHMA!

Had several experiences like that in my life. Wrong disagnosis more often than not. Often you get problems by taking meds which have to be cured by taking other meds and so on...I'd even go that far and say 50% of so called professional doctors etc. don't know shit out there.

Now I've finally found a doctor who never prescribes anything unless it's really serious. He always searches for other reasons first. He's a chiropractic as well. Schooled in aternative medicine. Never felt better in my whole life.

On another note, I also had a dream last night that really made me sweat when I woke up. It was actually about a member on this site (won't say who though as that detail really isn't important) continually trying to hunt me down and shoot me to death. That person seemed like a horror movie character in that continuously getting shot seemed to not have that great of an effect. Well, after killing one person and injuring numerous others that person was eventually killed by a dog, but many that dream really must have freaked me out if I woke up in such a state.

Did it feel like a video game? I'm having dreams like that quite often...not the horror type generally, but the video game type.

Nah, it felt real to me.

Yeah he can be a little scary, might not have been a dream...

On a serious note, hope you do continue with your medications. Just because medications don't work some people, that doesn't mean they don't work for everyone. I've been on them for over a year and they have done wonders. The biggest contributor however, has been the CBT with a therapist. The medications are just a tool to help. It's important to document your symptoms, take your medications regularly, and continue seeing a psychiatrist for meds, as well as a therapist.

Yeah, I restarted therapy recently, so I hope that it will help keep me on the right track. And I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you!!

Good luck with the therapy. I gained a lot from therapy and maybe medication also helped a little. Its sometimes difficult to know exactly. The meds that I first used didn´t help, but the ones that I use now seem to help.

Often the medication doesn´t cure the problem, but it can sometimes make it easier to work on the causes of your depression and might boost and quicken the recovery.

I heard a great quote once and it helped me quite a bit.

"I stopped being depressed the day I forgot to believe that I was depressed." or something like that.

I know, it sounds easy...but that's essentially what it is about.

Good luck to you all.
