Someone posted the article in a different thread, its on the front page so check it out.

Polygon:

"
WHAT IF I NEED TO REPLACE MY TOY-CON TEMPLATES?
Nintendo will sell replacement Toy-Con kits, including templates and cardboard pieces
"

Many other sites:

"
Nintendo plans to offer replacement cardboard kits and templates for players who break theirs
"

Nobody has stated free, and Polygon has stated "sell".
Labo website seems to look like it will sell tape and sticker sets, so the chances of them also giving out free replacement card sets is low to zero.

Idk maybe im reading this wrong or the report is wrong. Either way its not like you have to spend $70 again to play the game.

looks very strange... very.... Nintendo.

Will wait and see, they normally manage to create good things so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt rather than judge early like a lot of people seem to be doing.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

It's very interesting, but I am most curious as to see if it ends up more like WiiFit or PSVR.

$70 for cardboard?!?! Since this is marketed towards kids this is brilliant, they'll break the boxes in like 2 days. I'll wait for someone to post the PDF schematics on youtube.

It's $70 because it is a game, a physical game that includes the cardboards..

I've read a few posts here and there, that say this shouldn't exist, that Nintendo should focus only on games for THEM. That valid gaming can't belong to anyone else.

This has to be dealt with....

My issue is that it's cardboard... this is meant for kids right? I don't see a grown adult playing with this. I could just see kids breaking this in an hour or at the least a 1-2 days.

  • String (blue) x 1
  • Eyelet set (gray) x 1
  • Eyelet set (blue) x 1
  • Rubber band (large) x 2 + spares
  • Rubber band (small) x 6 + spares

Cardboard toys for kids have existed for a long time. Here are a few currently on the market.

Well, that's a thing that exists now I suppose. To be honest it feels like a gimmick to me, but who knows. Maybe something interesting will come from it. I can't say I'm personally all that interested though. Still, could be a fun thing for kids, who I imagine this is mostly marketed towards anyway.

I've known about cardboard toys for a long time, but that doesn't negate the issue that its card board. Look at the reviews of 2/3 of those links. Kids break em easy, especially this one since it has a lot of moving parts. Even if you look at amazon, card board toys have bad reviews, mostly the only good reviews come from card board blocks since they're just squares.

You know what's going to be crazy? The internet is full of some crazy artists. Really talented ones. You're going to see some pretty amazing paint jobs on some of these, and many you'll swear are made from plastic or 3D printed. People who make these paint jobs or do really cool coloring jobs on their Toy-Cons will post them on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, etc, and they will market the crap out of these gadgets. Nintendo always loves it best when the players become ambassadors for their products and I truly believe this won't be an exception.

Yep! If you've seen miiverse, you should know how talented Nintendo gamers are
