I have no idea why people would think switch will out sell playstation 4 in the US. the chances of that happening are slim to none.

You said that Switch outselling PS4 in Japan was a lock. But that is old news, so I justified why I included it.
As for US, ignoring PS2 since it's special in the US, and the PS4 is not trending to get even close.
At least 4 Nintendo consoles (DS, GB, Wii, GBA) has outsold PS1,PS3,PSV,PSP,PS4 in US. I think most people think Switch will be in the upper echelon of sales, especially after such a great year. I would say it would be a massive disappointment if it doesn't outsell the PS4 in the US.

Nintendo systems have sold over 40 million in North America on 4 occasions, Sony systems have once.
Not really that farfetched.

Again, this response has nothing to do with my actual post..? I wonder what's going on here. Anyway, it's not impossible for the Switch to outsell the PS4 in the US. It's unlikely, sure, and I don't think it'll happen but it isn't completely delusional to believe in it. |
Is it really unlikely for Switch to outsell PS4 in the U.S. .... ? I mean sure, these numbers are inflated because of Holiday+Launch being so close together, but I always assumed Switch would end up selling a few million more than the PS4 in the U.S.
Honestly though, I kind of stopped following sales closely in early december, so maybe there's a development I don't know about

you're not convincing with that weak argument. motion control era fad is dead, and handhelds will not go back to selling that amazing again with mobile tech where it is now, but hey anything is possible.

Well as you said, anything is possible. Mario could have a sequel to Odyssey or a 2D entry (or even Mario Maker) coming down the pipeline, you got Animal Crossig that is no slouch, especially for women, you got Smash Bros. that creates hype with every character reveal as you’ve probably seen back in 2013-14, and then you have one of the most valuable franchises in the history of entertainment (not just games) in Pokémon. And with games like Skyrim, DOOM, DQXI, Octopath Traveler, SMTV, Bayo 3, LA Noire, and others that have released or are upcoming third party games on the Switch, it’s not out of the realm of possibility to get some more support which was already confirmed by Nintendo when this particular news broke out. Who knows, DBFZ and Soul Calibur VI can potentially make it, especially since the Switch can run engines like Unreal Engine 4 and Unity.
youre already surprised that the Switch sold this well with the crazy 1st party launch-year lineup it has. Maybe the Switch can suprise you once more.
Gongratz nintendo! Now keep those games coming.
Seriously Nintendo comeback is amazing. They did it with Wii and now with Switch.

Not really. If the Switch has already reached 13 mil by now then I don't see how it won't eventually reach 30 mil. with Pokemon, Smash, Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, and a price cut. |
I mean US only, of course.
