I think the obvious answer is yes. Luke is a dick. That explains the dice. Either he crushes Leia if she keeps them, or he fucks with Kylo when he picks them up.

That actually made me laugh out loud!

Lol, you're welcome.  I seriously think the only reason they didn't have Luke tell them about an exit, or even put a single person on exit finding duty, is because they wanted another few shot of those toy bait foxes, while trying to make it seem like they weren't toy bait cause they totally had a reason to be there.

To be fair, they did spend the first two movies killing and neutering all of the important men.

By "all the important men," I assume you mean Han and Luke mostly yes? Harrison Ford demanded to be killed off as a condition just for him to come back for a movie. Luke is someone that Rian Johnson sees as a relic to be killed off, so the new cast can take their "rightful" place as the heroes in the story. If it were up to him he probably would have left Leia dead too, but Disney was likely worried that killing two of the main heroes from the old trilogy would be too much and told him to save one for later.

And as for neutering....ya sure, but it's not like the women are making out any better. Leia? Despite her years of experience, she's a garbage general. Holdo? Withholds vital information which puts her whole crew at risk, and basically single handedly allows the whole BS plot to happen. Rose? For all she knows she dooms the entire remains of the resistance until Luke conveniently shows up. Phasma? Literally only there to remind people Disney is selling a comic story of her. I mean seriously...they are all shown to be completely useless.

Now, is there somebody at Disney who is telling the people at Lucasfilm to put more "girl power" in their movies? Probably. I'm sure they think it's a great way of advertising to different audiences, and expanding the fanbase. Even so however, it's not like there would be anything wrong with more great female characters if that's what resulted from this mandate, but that's not the case. If that has been their goal, it has been horribly executed, because all the women come off as incompetent losers, who are bad at their job. And for all the issues with Rey, the only non incompetent female of the bunch, there is absolutely nothing inherently female about her character. You could replace her with a guy and NOTHING about her character would change even one bit. She's completely interchangeable, so the fact that she her character is female really isn't important to anyone but those who wanna talk themselves into it being important.

So then you admit that every important male was killed or neutered.

And would you like to know what happens when male role models are axed in reboots/continuations of cult classics that appealed to primarily male audiences? You get Ghostbusters. I don't think Disney has the capacity to make a movie that bad, but all the have to do now is kill Chewy and they'll be pretty close.

Way to miss the point entirely.

Your point was "They didn't kill off all the important men, they just killed off both of them for out-of-universe reasons!", and "Not just the men were useless: everyone except Mary Sue was useless!"

The first point on my drives home what I said, and the second point only draws more attention to how lousy of a character Rey is. More importantly, it draws attention to how lousy both Johnson and Abrams are.

No, that wasn't my point at all

Edit: Though JJ, and Johnson are in fact both lousy writers

Foreign BO is in for the weekend. Keep in mind that this is an estimate and could go up or down.

TLJ made ~$53.3M, a daily average of $17.8M. This brings the FBO total to $523.3M. At this point in time, TFA was at ~$760M, a difference of $236.7M, or 31% down. In fact, TLJ's 17 day foreign take doesn't match TFA's 10 day take, when it was at $546M. It'll probably take another day or two to match it. Unless domestic does some heavy lifting, TLJ will officially have a larger than 30% drop from TFA for the same time period.

I'll update with domestic when it comes in.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Yep.

Domestic estimates are in. TLJ fell 26.7% WOW to $52.4M. It's DBO total is now $517. 1M. At the same time, TLJ was $742.2M, a difference of $224.5M, or 30% down.

As for WW, TLJ sits at $1.04B. At the same time, TFA sat at over $1.5B. The difference, now, is $461.2M, or 31% down.

Yep. And no one really doubted it would. The point is how far below TFA that TLJ has fallen. Quite a bit of which has to do with many fans not happy about the quality of the film, hence they aren't giving it the rewatches that TFA received.
