Had MS successfully followed up on the 360, PS4 wouldn't be set to sell over 140M. MS cut them in half with no ill effect on Nintendo. It's pretty clear what you have to do to compete with Sony (hint:no kinect). Nobody's come up with a way to stop Nintendo. Whether it's 5 years or 50 years, unless someone can counter Nintendo they're set to win in the end.

wtf do you call the annihilation sony bestowed on nintendo with the PS1 and PS2 and PS4 ? 

PS4 kicked ninendos ass so bad they were forced to merge their console and handheld's together to survive.

What clearly separates the two is form factor and in that regard the Switch shares commonality with all previous portable systems but is also it's main differentiating trait compared to home consoles so it is rightly classified as a portable system ...

My comment wasn't specifically about power, it was about the games themselves and in that regard current portables will never be able to have the same games as current home consoles ...

So we previously had globally in the US and now we have global death by Japan.

Nintendo can't do shit to Sony. The year they released one of their most successful console ever with a ton of year 1 heavy hitters Sony blew its sales away and also had its best ps4 year ever by far.

2018 won't be any different for ps4. Its sales are going to be huge. Its in a league of its own.

A portable system that can be set up like a console right out of the box.

I'm predicting Sony to go bankrupt before 2020.

By that time, Microsoft will already have left the gaming industry.

Nintendo may survive a bit longer, but even they won't be able to compete with the king.

Sony wants their hardware and OS in as many homes and hands as possible. Streaming will be used to reach the hands of people that choose non Sony hardware, but still want access to Sony's industry leading software. They are not going to just give up 30% of their profits by selling all services through other companies. They will continue to expand the PlayStation OS to more casual and non gaming content as needed to try and reach the widest audience possible.
