The PS4 couldn't handle 100 players, of decent complexity, running around a large map.

Not in an interesting way.
Not in a way that Naughty Dog would be satisfied with.

MAG on the PS3 had over 200 players.

(a) Oh, god, that game looks ugly; even for a 7th gen title, MAG looks really bad.

(b) Naughty Doy wants to really sell their characters... ain't gonna happen if they look that bad.
I said decent complexity, MAG's players are super basic.

MAG seems to be built around having many players on the battlefield; Naughty Dog would be re-purposing their existing tech around a novelty.

To be fair, Battle Royale-like modes are all the rage now. I bet if the Sims added a battleRoyale mode, it would also turn some heads.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

If The Sims added a Battle Royale mode, I would listen.
If they could somehow pull in the house building, they could have something moderately special.

What about they doing SP only? I would like it.

Sony already tried high player count on MAG and not much came from it, so no need to spoil TLOU2 with even more MP focus.

Nobody cares about uncharted multiplayer in the first place. I never touched a single uncharted multiplayer match in my life. Naughty dog games like Uncharted and TLOU sell due to their single player campaign.

I wouldn’t go that far. ND is actually extremely good at Multiplayer, and TLoU has a fantastic multiplayer component. The OP’s request is a bit much, but ND building upon the first game’s multiplayer is still a must.

OT: Nah. Maybe, if the player count were drastically decreased to say 10 - 20, with other elements like clickers or enemy human AI thrown in, but it definitely doesn’t need a 100 player mode. Hell, I seriously doubt any hardware in this world could handle ND’s engine on such a massive scale, let alone PS4. i have my own ideas on things they should do to spruce the multiplayer up, but a Battle Royale mode is definitely not one of them lol

Why not? TLoU had a good multi mode that people still play.

That would be dumb. They'd be making huge compromises to support a trend that may not even be popular anymore by the time the game came out.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Disagree, before they ruined it with pay to win DLC and microtransactions, it was probably my favorite MP of last gen. Tactical, deep, gory as fuck.

It would be a nice mode for multiplayer, yes.
