The top of their '100 greatest games ever'-list was absolutely littered with Nintendo titles. I'm pretty sure Super Mario Kart was up there as well.

They average about -15% or so compared to Metacritic's average scores for Wii games.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't just go for Wii games.

Also, all three threads should have ended the moment it was pointed out that they gave Mario Kart: Double Dash a 5 


5 is an average score, right in the middle of the scale. DD was distinctly average and a huge dissapointment, 5 was a proper score for it.

I am on Maximus's side in this one. When you review a piece of hardware, I agree with you kingofwale. But hardware reviews are often just a collection of facts. The thing fits in a cabinet, it gets hot, the buttons are small, whatever. No one is telling you how that DVD player makes them feel.

A Video game review is akin to a movie review, and I also hate movie reviews by the way. A game play video is more like a hardware review. You get a collection of facts.

In a perfect world, I would want a review that gave me nothing other than the technical characteristics of the game. What the load times are like, the frame rates. What’s the control style like.

Give those things a rating if you like, but never rate how fun a game is. No one can tell you that. If you ask people on this site what their favorite game they have played in the last year, many of them will not be picking highly rated games. If people didn’t go by reviews, even more people would be saying that (because a lot of people only play games with high review scores).

So let me ask you this kingofwale, were you favorite movies last year the ones that got the highest review scores? (I am guessing not). Why should your games be?

You can't be serious.  Wii 3rd party games get horrible ratings on IGn, mainly because they actually are bad. However, some get underrated. Nintendo can't afford to bribe IGN, they are very conservative with cash.

I think what you are missing is that we should NEVER just blindly follow a review or 2. Instead, we need to view a lot of them and use them to formulate our own opinion. I didn't need to actually go and watch "Norbit" or "I know who killed me" to know it's bad.

my favourite of 07 are probably ratatouille or 300.

i know this is a joke, but i felt like digging into it :P

 So they get free wii games if they pretend they like wii games.. why would they bother, let alone guarantee, giving wii games better scores in order to get free wii games if they didn't like wii games?

Oh well,it´s their opinion....I remember how many Sony fanboys went nuts over GS´review of Ratchet & Clank:TOD (they gave it a 7.5),now Nintendo fanboys are going nuts over this MK review...in the end,it shouldn´t deprive you from enjoying the game...I´m a big R&C fan,and the GS score did nothing to reduce the enjoyment I had with the game,and the same will hold true for this MK...so,let people do their reviews and remember you are your own best reviewer.

Edge gave God of War Chains of Olympus and God of War 2 a 7 ... so whats the big deal .

lol so many people flamed PS fans by making the G4TV gives CC a 4 thread , and the same people are comming here and they whine about the score for MKWii lol

It's no surprise that MKWii gets a few average scores. Rememeber some of the scores previous installments got:

MK64- 8.1 (IGN), 6.4 (GameSpot)

MK:DD - 7.9 (IGN), 7.9 (GameSpot)
