Forums - Sales - November 2017 NPD Thread! PS4 > XBO > Switch

Good that we have more concrete numbers. The Switch doing ~750K-770K with little to no stock issues points to it being more in line with the 3DS than the Wii/PS4. Definitely not a bad thing, but it should keep some people's expectations in check.

I'd say the XBOX underperformed, especially when many thought it would do ~600K. Yes, it was more expensive than the Pro, BUT it had more than a year to build up hype (as opposed to a month), had more time to build up preorders than the Pro (~2 months vs 1), and was an easier sell to Xbox fans looking to upgrade. It MAY do better than the Pro's 20% of PS4 sales, but that doesn't mean much if the XBO still looks like it will end up ~50M or so.

Oh, I bet you would. By that reach, I'd say it's the best thing since sliced bread, considering how many though it would bomb selling at $500.

The post reads: Xbox one x sold over 65% higher than PS4 pro did, in just over a week doing over 430k units is impressive as I see it, given the price point.

How many weeks did November NPD have after the X's launch?

Really?! That low?! I expected much more for both of them and, to be frank, 2.5 times with all the pre-orders and at launch is nothing to boast about....it's obviously the reason Microsoft have become awkwardly quiet lately.

😂

pro did 260k-399$

x did 430k- 499$

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Most people expected it to do 400kish based on how it sold in the UK. Where are you getting that most people expected 600k?

Did I say most?  No.  You are claiming most said 400K, though.

And there were a few on here (don't remember names) that were predicting 600K+, going by its position on Amazon in the months preorders went live.  I'd say the average prediction, at least from what I saw was 500K-600K.  Either way, it underperformed given how much hype and advertising MS tried to put behind it.  It's pretty much all they talked about for over a year.

what?

The top Francise of nintendo, only one, Mario Kart, now in Switch.

The others three

Pokemon

Animal Crossing

Mario 2D

Don`t show up yet.

Switch is not only a home console, but a portable too.

And in portable side, nintendo domains.

NES, SNES not frontloaded. And best month of Wii was December 2009, three years after the release.

what? 3d mario is also huge, mario 3d land out sold NSMB 2. zelda is also huge. the game have gotten crazy critic acclaim. i'm willing to bet 2d mario wont beat mario odyssey in sales. mario odyssey in sales is a monster.

look the history.

2d mario sells better than 3d mario

In Wii, in DS, In 3DS and in Wiiu also

Oh no, poor Nintendo! What's gonna happen now that they sold 750-800K for 300$ withouth any promotions at all, and is doing better than 3DS launch allinied with such a way bigger price?

Nintendo is so doomed.

Wasn't the 3DS launch considered less that adecuate, though?

Yes it did poorly for the first few months but it had a big price cut and some big hitters that gave it excellent holiday sales.

Switch at full price is tracking on par with 3DS even after its price cut.

The only reason its ahead of 3ds is because the nintendo gamers that like to game on a home console only are giving it a boost, they are a very small market. which will have little effect next year.

The Switch is tracking ahead of the 3DS, which outsold both the Wii and PS4 in their first year.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Some of u guys r really reaching with saying it underperformed

pro 260k- 399

x 430k- 499$

The justifications for this just doesn't make sense. In November 2016 a PS4 was going for 250-300. this November a xb1s went for 190-230. What's the harder sale u tell me:

play a better version of the same PS4 game for 100-150$ More

or

play a better version of the same xb1 game for 270-310$.

honestly it's a wonder this even broke 200k.

and if ur going to tell me it's because of Microsoft's marketing than boy oh boy they must have 1 hell of a marketing team.

they sell about the same, but mario odyssey is a super hyped beast unlike any mario title since 64. it's most likely 2d mario won't come close.

Did it bomb?  No.  But it did underperform.  Remember, this is the thing MS has been hyping for a year and half.  Yet, it didn't really do much for XBO sales.  Sure, it had its best Nov, but that was mostly due to the $189 S.  It also doesn't seem to be reinvigorating XBO sales, as its still looks like its on the same trajectory it was on before, selling less than half of the PS4.
