why would i edit my comment?

He's assuming you have enough self awareness to be ashamed of writing something that we would expect to come out of Margaret Court's or Pauline Hansen's mouth. I guess he gives you too much credit :)

And what is wrong with what i said? As a human why should I care how people choose to live their lives? If it makes them happy so be it. Who are we to judge?

There is plenty of valid examples were it could happen between siblings, ie.

1. Adopted child and a biological one (that come later when parents thought they couldn't conceive)

2. Siblings that were separated young between parents who met in the real world and didn't realise they were related

3. Siblings by law of two different single parents who married after the siblings got to know each other via say school

Blood siblings  that have always lived together from birth is the one everyone disproves the most. Sure there is logical reasons why it is wrong, but again why should we care? This has happened through out history and even they got married and suddenly it is bad? How does it impact your living of standard if someone does that?

I voted no, so I'm made to feel like I have AIDS (it's a joke, nobody actually cares). I respect the decision of the rest of the nation though.

I'm curious why you would vote no

You implied that marriage equality would lead to siblings marrying each other with your "next stop" comment.  As if there were some link between marriage equality and legalized incest.

Well it comes down to me being naturally conservative. I like to keep things the way they are if they aren't totally broken. I see marriage as an institution rather than a legal right for citizens. You simply need to qualify to join in. I have nothing against gays as I don't believe homosexuality is immoral.

I also feel that marriage should be taken from government control and given back to the church. Then everyone could be treated equally under the law and the religious people would be happy too. The government has too much power over such things (and most things generally).

Sorry that you don't believe all Australian-born citizens should be seen and treated as equals in the eyes of the law.

Well that's just an assumption on your part. I think people should be treated as equals and that marriage as an institution should be taken away from government control. Every couple should be able to register themselves as a couple with the government (gay or straight) but that marriage as an institution should only be performed by religious institutions. Then everyone's happy.

Well, the law came into effect yesterday and same sex couples have begun registering. There's a month-long compulsory wait period, so the first same sex marriages will start on January 9th.

Yeah. I don't get it either.
I mean, I have been guilty of doing it a few times, but usually been drunk as a skunk.

Also... "Stealthing" has started to become a thing too, where the top removes the condom during the middle of intercourse without the partner knowing.

We've all done dumb things when we're drunk I guess. (Well most of us) I know I sure as hell have; never that, but sometimes things equally or even more dangerous/stupid.

Stealthing though, that shit is fucked.

Well. They certainly are at the time.

Actually agree with this. It's pretty gross, but the government (or anybody else for that matter) have no right to tell two consenting adults what they can and can't do together. Don't see why that shouldn't apply to marriage as well as sex.

Incest is already legal in Australia. You can marry your cousin for instance.
Which is why the slippery slope arguments of Incest being legalized next were always stupid.

Mostly because of the preventable harm to an infant that could occur if two blood relatives were to reproduce.
However. Marriage has nothing to do with reproduction, it's not like you sign a certificate that states "Thou shall make babies or have marriage certificate rendered null and void" when you perform the ceremony.

With that... I have no qualms against Polygamy or Incest, it's none of my business. - As long as they are consenting adults, what they do in the privacy of their home/life is not my business or concern.
