Forums - Gaming - Nintendo Switch is a monster at my Best Buy , always selling out

I think we’ve reached the point where graphics have become good enough for the average person not to notice a huge difference between each of the consoles. Comparing the Wii to the PS3? The Wii looks painful in comparison. Not so much when comparing the Switch to the PS4. Sure, it’s noticeable if you compare them side by side, but when you’re just playing, gaming on Switch is good enough for a lot of people. Add in portability, and you’ve got a compelling buy. For me, the Nintendo exclusives are just icing on the cake. Granted, they’re great, but I’d be content playing almost anything on the console.

Btw, I’m surprised you’re barely selling any xboxes lately. I know the xbox brand isn’t as strong as it used to be, but still, a new piece of hardware just came out. I would’ve expected sales to be strong during the first holiday season, at least.

Price and games. Exactly why the Switch is selling much better. Most people don’t have a 4K TV yet. Also there’s seems to be kind of a big backlash because people realise MS have over promised and under delivered. All that “only true 4K” console and “true, uncompromised 4K” talk now keeps hurting the brand and console, since people realise it’s essentially not that big of a difference, to what the much cheaper Pro has been doing for a year already. Essentially the X1X is just more of the same, the Switch at least has the new and exciting games to back it up and feels substantially different to what most people already own.

It's just a great console. And releasing Doom, Rocket league and Skyrim has definitely appeased to a wider audience who have not as much time for video games at home, and can now take it on the go. Frightningly enough, I think they've only scratched the potential of this device

Because it’s New.

Wii U was new also. :D

That's great news! The success is well deserved with the most amazing lineup for a launch year ever and I find myself really loving the hybrid capability playing in handheld mode close to 50% of the time.

The Switch is also cheaper. And has a better line-up.

Maybe that is contributing more than being new?

Also, it's eight months old and still considered new. What is the cut off date for a console being considered 'new'? A full year on the market?

You do realize you're supporting his claim that being new is not the reason Switch is doing so well?

Also Switch is the same price as Wii U was.

I don't see how what you wrote has anything with what I wrote.
