Almost at the end( worldtree end)

Have to admit this game is mindblowing amazing, i got huge ff7 feelings from it at how awesome the chars, the world and music and battle systeem are.

And what a grand storyline damn!!!!

Best jrpg since ffx without a doubt. Never played xeno 1 or x)

If you enjoyed Xenoblade 2 I highly, highly recommend the first game.

So I've enjoyed the story quite a lot. But in Chapter 6 and the opening of Chapter 7, the game really stepped it up. I love how even though some characters lean more towards comedy, they are still actual characters with personalities and depth. And that the whole cast gets fairly even treatment, without characters falling by the wayside.

So how much cutscenes are there in the game? My current guess is over 20h because I just finished Chapter 3 and it felt like watching a 2h movie.

There are approximately 13 hours and 22 minutes worth of voiced main story cutscenes. On average that is about 66 minutes of cut-scenes per chapter. The first game had about ten hours worth of voiced main story cutscenes. Xenoblade Chronicles X had something like 6 hours worth of voiced main story cutscenes + affinity mission cutscenes.

Not too far off then, I see. It's just really telling when during a cutscene the screen goes dark because you haven't touched your controller for a long time.

Whenever you open a new blade, you only want to keep the ones that have 3 field skills. This really helps to shorten the amount of time that Ursala's quest takes. Also once you hit 75 keys you unlock missions that let you get 3 keys at once. Overall her quest shouldn't take anymore than 10 - 15 hours if you play right.

But yeah, it can be really frustrating without the right blades. I didn't keep all my 3 field skill blades, and wound up spending 25 hours grinding for her.

I did use the right blades, as how can you not, the suggested field skills aside from unique exclusives and expeditionist are element masterys. However, shaving of a mere 1-5 min hardly helps unless you're just sitting there staring at the merc screen, since otherwise you're doing something and wont always check in the second she's done. Even if you do just sit there, 10-15 hours is still outrageous and inexcusable.

Oh, and after she gets Lv.5 affinity, she needs 7k trust to actually complete the chart... just lol.

The controller vibrates and the screen tells you in words and text when a merc mission is done.

Are chain attacks essential? Cos I hate using them as it totally depletes my party gauge and leaves me vulnerable to being cheesed without any points left for revival.

The most essential thing about chain attacks IMO is that they greatly increase your EXP gained from the enemy.  You just have to make sure the chain attack is the killing blow.

As an example, at level 89 I beat a level 90 without a chain attack: 3600 exp.  Did it with a chain attack without bursts: 15000 exp.  Did it with a chain attack that got to full burst: 53000 exp.

Didn't realize it gave more experience. I knew it gave you much better drops.

I believe ending with a Driver combo will as well (think you need the Smash though). Should be a little up arrow near the EXP

I'm guessing you missed the "you're doing something part" i.e. in battle, in cutscene/dialogue, in menu, etc.
