Forums - Sony Discussion - PSVR sales big boost with black friday

Following the Black Friday shopping period, analysts report strong sales for the PlayStation VR headset in the UK, possibly furthering Sony’s install base lead among tethered VR headsets.

In a summary of Black Friday videogame and hardware sales analyses, UK-based CfK Chart-Track, citing “retail/web sales where the data is captured electronically each day via EPoS systems,” says that PlayStation VR had a “huge” week in the UK. According to the summary, PSVR unit sales during Black Friday week were “on par” with the headset’s launch week back in 2016. Furthermore, the firm says that the sell-through rate—the percent of units shipped to retailers that were then sold to customers—is “equivalent [to] the past 18 weeks [combined].”

Not surprising. The Skyrim VR and GTS bundles are still pretty high up in best sellers charts on Amazon. I can imagine that with the new price, it’ll continue to sell very well.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

It had been above the X1X in hourly sales for several days in a row on Amazon US, until the Skyrim bundle finally had sold out.

I consider that a huge boost. Glad to hear it...VR is far from dead.

GREAT news!!! Now give us the game we all been waiting for ... KNACK VR!!!!

PSN & XBOX GT : cutzman25

BTW I have just watched the first DOOM VFR gameplays on PSVR...holy shoot this is looking mint! Bethesda is killing it with their VR support atm. Kudos to them!

I don't have a lot of faith in VR's mainstream appeal, but maybe Sony can prove me wrong, good luck guys.

Great to see it succeed

in my opinion with more and more sales, more and more people get the chance to actually expierence VR in person (because people show it to their friends and so on).

So with good prices and software in the future and more and more people getting the chance to try it, I expect sales to raise.

I had some friends that basically thought VR would just be "a screen strapped to your face" or "like beeing in a room with 4 tvs on each wall". Its not really easy to understand for most people without trying it.

I also think that VR will bring alot new people into gaming in general because of how different the expierence is to normal flatscreen gaming.

Many people arnt really interested in playing Call of Duty with a normal controller but had a blast with farpoint with the aim controller in my expierence

I was told that there comeing out with a better VR head set with a better chip in it did any body else hear this

The new headset is already out and has a"better chip" insofar as hdr is now passed through (plus some cable changes).
